Jets Forced to Unveil Logo
I will cover the Jets logo release at the end of this post. News of its release came up as I was in the middle of writing this.
The COTW July 11-17 voting finished last night. The winner, with his first COTW, is Kevin and his Nordiques concepts! Go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page to see Kevin's winning entry. Results of the vote are below.

Quebec Nordiques concepts (by Lachlan)
Lachlan gives us the Nordiques WHA jerseys but, he's added an old style Nords logo as a shoulder patch along with the WHA logo.

Mark has made some small changes here to the old NHL Nordiques jerseys. Personally, I don't care for the changes except for the two coloured collar.
Toronto Maple Leafs concept (by Brandon S.)
Brandon take the old 3rd Leafs jersey and makes it green for the old St. Pats. For me, a die-hard Leafs fan, green is for the St. Pats and blue is for the Leafs, I don't think the two mix well. More so, I don't think the leaf works with the green.

Our COTW winner submitted this Leafs jersey. If I forget that this is a "combination of eras" jersey I like it. When I start thinking about the different eras individually I think twice about whether I like the jersey. All in all, I guess I like the jersey.
Nashville Predators concept (by Mark)
It was only a matter of time before someone sent in a blue version of the Preds new jerseys. Don't worry, there's more coming. I'm being a little sarcastic, they aren't bad looking jerseys at all.

I really like the 3rd jersey from this set. Of course the Bruins may cry foul about the use of their template but, hey it's a really good template! The home and road jerseys look good but, they look like what they are, re-coloured Habs jerseys.
Los Angeles Kings concept (by Brandon S.)
I really like this concept. It seems like a nice simple update to the original jersey. The logo could use a white background/outline though.
Phoenix Coyotes concepts (by Brandon C.)
I don't think the Coyotes need a change in their jerseys but, if they did I wouldn't mind these at all. A big thing that I like is the white collar on the home sweater. I also like the 3rd jersey but, it may be a little too plain for others.
Chicago Blackhawks concept (by David)
David uses a clipart bird here to create a decent Hawks logo. The jersey also looks good, especially with the yokes. I would have the yellow outlines from the arms also be on the hem stripes.
Pittsburgh Penguins concept (by Tex)
This may be too plain for most but for me it's a COTW nomination. It's so plain that there is not too much I can think to say about it except for I really like it.

That old Robo-Penguin 3rd jersey looks pretty good on the Edge cut, and that's coming from someone who wasn't a huge fan of it. Kevin has also done a really good job making a matching white version. We saw something similar from Glen earlier this year (which won him COTW). Can this one do the same for Kevin?
WINNIPEG JETS LOGOS
Ok, so just before 4pm EST, a leak of the new Jets logo surfaced.

Some dismissed it and some said that it was authentic. No more than 5 minutes after the leak surfaced the official Winnipeg Jets Twitter account said they would release the new logos at 5pm EST. Interesting. I certainly thought that the Jets could have made a little more hooplah about the whole thing. Maybe they'll have more of a party for the jersey release. So, at 5pm EST, the Jets released their logos and it was the one we saw in the leak. They also released a secondary logo and a wordmark.

Here's my two cents, it looks like something I could have drawn on Paint.net. It looks like something that we've seen numerous times by "amateurs" on CCSLC. It looks like what most may have dismissed because it was too obvious. I even got a concept from a regular contributor yesterday with a very similar logo on it. I'm sure MANY more will be coming in now. Well, the flood gates are open. If enough concepts come in, I may forget the rotation for one day and just do a Jets post.
Having said all of that, I like it! I like how simple it is. I like how even though it's a new logo it has some heritage behind it. I like how TNSE could have really messed up something special they have with the fans of Winnipeg but, they played it safe. Maybe too safe for some.
The release of the logo has spawned an impromptu poll on the left side of the page. Easy as pie; new Jets logos, thumbs up or down. Poll will run until Sunday @ 11:59pm EST.

It was actually me who won COTW with a Pens white gradient jersey. :)
ya.....no. that jets logo.....no. military supported, 18 different colours, a rip off maple leaf....um, no....bad, bad! i grade it a 'C'. i heard new colours right from mr true north himself, um.......whatever!
Total Garbage,this is not a miltary team.If this is the logo they can go back to Atlanta for coming up with something so putrid...!!!
The logo looks great, although I don't really like the font used for the "Jets" text logo. Now hopefully they keep the jersey's looking simple and classic, none of these hideous new Edge jerseys that are making their way into every team.
okay so at first when i saw the logos i was a bit disappointed because i expected more of an update to the old logo. But then i put the new one next to the old one and began to realize that the old logo was nothing more than a workmark essentially. The problem i see with a wordmark is that a major league sports logo should be recognizable without text telling you what it is. So i decided i would give the new logo a chance. Ive looked at it probably about 50 times since it was unveiled and has grown on me everytime and now i really like it. Just my 2 cents..
The bruins would be pissed if anyone uses their template, hell, they went batshit crazy when Pittsburg stole their colors.
Realistically, anything that TNSE released would've been pooped on by the collective jersey design world. overall, I think...it's a pretty good look. It's Simple and clean and looks classic. It's modern, but has an almost heritage look to it. Not 100% crazy about the wordmark, but I'm sure it's use will be limited. Now, I think most people ca just reserve final judgement until w see these puppies on a legit jersey.
Brian won COTW with the gradient Pens jersey, I won the Penguins redesign contest with a gradient pair.
Apologies to both Glen and Brian. I wrote that on the fly. I should've taken a couple of seconds to do some homework.

the main logo looks like a shoulder patch,the second logo looks like they copied elements from the memorial cup logo, and the word mark needs a jet some where in it.
