Wednesday: THE ISLANDERS ARE MOVING!!!!!
The New York Islanders announced earlier today that they're moving for the 2015-16 season. They're not going far, they'll still be on Long Island. They'll be playing in the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. They also announced that the logo and jerseys will remain unchanged. I like that they're keeping the same nickname, but I think this would be a good opportunity to slightly update their logo and jersey. What do you folks think? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

There's another two votes this week, the Wild Redesign, and of course the COTW. Remember, the Wild Redesign votes go to the contest email (HJCcontest@gmail.com), but the COTW votes still go to the regular email (concepts@hockeyjerseyconcepts.com).

Alaska Aces (by Matt L.)
I think this concept has a bit too much going on. Having stripes, side panels, shoulder yokes, and full length sleeve stripes make this seem very busy. Getting rid of about half of those features would greatly improve this concept, in my opinion. Also the logo seems quite large. 6/10
Tampa Bay Lightning (by WinnipegJets96)
Here's an update of the Lightning's original uniforms to the Edge Template. It's okay, but I think the logos are quite dated, maybe using their 2007-11 logos would be better. I do like that the Lightning's "Hawaiian Blue" was used, and I also like bringing back the unique number font. 7/10
Team Russia (by David K.)
For some reason this concept was really hard for me to form an opinion about. Everything looks good here. The font for the name, word-mark, and numbers is unique and still looks good. Execution is also good. I honestly have no complaints about this concept, but nothing really wows me either. 8/10
Nashville Predators (by Caz W.)
This is a white version of Caz's Predators concept from yesterday. And there sure is a lot of white on the jersey. I think making the stripes thicker, and using a bolder font for the name and number, would help fill in the jersey. Besides that I like the rest of the jersey, I especially like bringing back the checkered-pattern. 8/10
Hartford Whalers (by Kevin W.)
This was Kevin's entry for the Whalers comp (well almost, he did fix the road jersey's socks, but besides that it's the same). I love the home jersey, it's perfect. I think the road jersey has too much blue though, and I don't get why the logo needed to be recoloured. The third jersey's colouring reminds me of Carolina's current third, but I don't think black works for the Whalers. 7/10
Hartford Whalers (by Keens)
And this was Keens entry for the Whalers Comp. I really like the waves striping on the home and road, they are way better than the Connecticut Whale's attempt at wave striping. The sublimated waves in the numbers are also a neat idea. I don't like the shoulder logo for the home and road, it's simply not as clever as the Whalers old logo. I also don't get the decision to re-colour the primary logo here. Those are just minor complaints though. The third jersey is a nice retro-looking jersey. COTW nom from me. 9/10
Toronto Argonauts (by WinnipegJets96)
I've really been enjoying WinnipegJets96's CFL series so far. This concept for the Argos doesn't disappoint, I really like how the striping looks on a hockey jersey. The logo also works well as a primary logo. Using their 1994 alternate logo as a shoulder patch wouldn't be my choice, but I don't think it detracts anything from this concept. 8/10
Minnesota Wild (by Dylan A.)
I hope I'm allowed to comment on these next two concepts, they are currently in the Wild Contest. I like the home and road, which appear to be a mix of their current road and third jersey's striping. The third jersey, which updates their current home jersey, is good too. My only complaint about that jersey is how the arm stripes appear to come to a point. 8/10
Minnesota Wild (by Justin C.)
The home jersey here is amazing, I love how the yellow stands out. The road jersey isn't bad, but I don't think it's at the same level of awesomeness as the home. The yellow doesn't seem to pop as much, and I'm not sure I like the red things under the shoulder yoke. Don't get me wrong though, it's still a very good jersey. 9/10

I'm glad the Islanders won't be rebranding. It hasn't gone well in the past, and after all, they're really only moving 45 minutes down the road. No big deal. Don't get crazy.
Thanks for enjoying the CFL series Steven! I'm working on the american teams now, and some of them sure do have unique looks.
@WinnipegJets96, The american teams sure do have some strange looks. I'm surprised you're including them, they didn't last very long.
I have the sudden urge to do an MLS hockey series. I don't know why...
Steven, what do you mean about the striping on my Wild jerseys coming to a point?
Dylan, I mean on the third jersey how the sleeve stripes are curved. It looks like, once you put the front and back of the jersey together, that it would come to a point. Similar to the Ducks or Islanders third jersey.
The way I see it is that if the jersey is flat then yeah they would come to a point. But when being worn the stripe would be, uneven, I guess is the word... and on the outside of the arm it would be a lot higher up then on the inside.
Since you mentioned it and I know what I intend it to look like I can't unsee it. I'll definitely fix that and make it look better.
