Weekend Update (Jan 27)
Hello all!
We now know that Justin C. will win the 2012 Concept of the Year. Which concept of his that will win is still to be decided. Below are the results of the semi-final votes.
Justin's Winter Classic concept will face-off against his Ottawa Senators concept to determine the 2012 Concept of the Year!!! Click the banner on the side of the page or go to the COTY 2012 tab to see the concepts. This is the most important vote of the year and now that everyone can vote hopefully we have the biggest voter participation of the year on this one. Voting ends on Friday.
The winner of the COTW for January 14-20 is Ryan (me) with his Niagara Ice Dogs concept. I needed a 24 hour playoff vote to defeat Justin C. though.
The entry phase has ended for the Outdoor Classic competition. I was really disappointed to see that so many people (about 80% of entries) did not follow the HJC Logo Use Policy. Seeing as there were a lot of people who didn't comply I'll see what I can do about making that clearer. I'll start now by saying that you should go review the policy on the ABOUT/CONTACT HJC tab because it ALWAYS applies...ALL THE TIME.
Anyways, Top 5 voting now begins. You can see the Outdoor Classic entries by clicking the banner at the top of the page or by going to the OUTDOOR CLASSIC COMP tab. Voting end on Friday.
The nominees have been listed on the side of the page for the COTW Jan. 21-27. You can see those concepts by clicking on the banner or by going to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Voting ends Friday on this one as well.
Here are you're coloured voting reminders...
If you were following HJC during the summer you may remember that Fredericton High School (Fredericton, NB) used HJC to find a new white sweater for their team. Well their sweaters were delivered to them a couple of weeks ago and now Jeff from FHS wants to share some images with us.
From all of the concepts sent in, Jeff liked what he saw from Matt M. the best. He then worked with Matt independently to come up with the exact look that the school required. I think they turned out great! Really solid, modern, and creative look.
I thought it would be a good idea to get to know myself and the weekly bloggers just a little bit better. So, here are small profile cards for each of us. These will be able to be seen from the ABOUT/CONTACT HJC page.

I recieved my own personalized Black Kats jersey in the mail on Friday, and I'm quite pleased with the way the jersey (that I designed) turned out. They were originally going to have them made by SP Apparel, but the production cost would've been a tad too pricey for them, so they switched to Rink Gear as I recommended. -
Ryan: I like the addition of yours and your HJC writers profile cards. Finally nice to see some faces to go along with names. I don't know how you feel about it, but might I suggest adding birth years to those cards to give everybody and idea of how old/young you all are. Also, how do you feel about adding contributor profile cards? I'd be happy to send you a pic as well as info to go with it if you decide to do so.
@ matt, I'm 17 in March
@winnipegjets96 - wow, your younger than I thought you were. I turned 33 in October.
@Matt: I didn't ask for any ages because I didn't want the bloggers' ages to effect how people took their comments when critiquing the concepts. For example, if someone is young then readers may think "this kid doesn't know what he's talking about". If someone is older then readers may think "oh this old guy only likes classic looking jerseys and won't like anything modern".
Anyways, I'm 29. My age has always been on the ABOUT/CONTACT HJC page.
Hahaha, a Maple Leaf fan and a Canucks fan?! haha
The Canadiens jersey is cool, but did you mean to write "habitons"? "Habs" stands for "les habitants".
