Tuesday: Quick Post
Hello all. Today's post is going to be shorter than normal (same amount of concepts but less writing), as I don't have much free time today. Sorry about that.
Here's today's profile card...
PEI Islanders (by Josh L.)
This uses a cool colour scheme, and striping pattern looks good. But the logos don't look like hockey logos to me, the details are too small. I do like the TV numbers in the sleeve. 7.5/10
New York Islanders (Brady S.)
I'm not a fan of the Islander's being "Brooklynized". But putting that aside the design looks good, and the execution is great. 8/10
Yankee Stadium Game 1 (by Bobby P.)
I really like the logo/script thing on the Ranger's jersey, it has a cool retro vibe. The rest of the jersey is pretty good too. The Islanders jersey looks great, except the shoulder yoke looks more Oilers than Islanders to me. Execution note: the TV numbers are on the wrong side. 8/10
Yankee Stadium Game 2 (by Bobby P.)
Bobby has the Rangers in the same jersey here, with the Devils wearing a colour-swapped version of their road jersey. The Devils jersey looks really good with red more prominent. Although the colours in the Devils logo don't match the jersey. 8.5/10
Chicago Blackhawks (by Mike S.)
This is what Mike thinks the Blackhawks should wear for their outdoor game. The striping pattern, logos, and equipment all look great. I'd suggest white (vintage-white/tan) for the NOB though, for better readability. This has the same colour issues in the logo as the concept above (they don't match the jersey). 8.5/10
EDIT (by Ryan)

Ryan, if it's any consolation, despite recent events, I think most of the American hockey world was rooting for the Leafs in that series.
Cool! My second COTW! Thanks to all who voted for me.
Sorry about your Leafs, Ryan. I'm glad to see Cody Franson is doing well there. You definitely got the better end on that trade. We miss him in Nashville.
well..I'll say go sens, but really, the jets broke my heart so bad, I've lost most of my interest in the playoffs. Oh congrats Torin, I absolutely love that flames concept. Brady S. for COTW, I love this Nets/Islanders crossover idea.
Anyone want to give me some feedback on the Islanders concept? First serious one I've done.
Josh, your PEI concept was pretty good for a first timer. My first was terrible. Couple things you might want to do is pick a number font that matches the font for the name. A more block-like font might be more cohesive. You might want to explain on your concept why the shoulder patch is potatoes. As a Tennesseean, I don't understand the significance, but I'm sure there's a reason. Also, look for blank pixels in the collars, and be sure to take the NHL logos off the tags when making a minor league concept. Looking forward to seeing more from you, though. That's a great first-time concept. Keep 'em coming.
I nominate Bobby P's Yankee Stadium Game 1 concept. Anybody else?
Thanks Caz. They're actually the same font, but I can see what you mean with the block letters. The numbers don't look like they match.
The potato shoulder patch was kind of a joke. PEI is world famous for its potatoes. It's one of the first stereotypes Canadians throw out when they think of PEI. I couldn't find a serious, good-looking patch that matched the colour scheme or could be easily re-coloured, so I went with that. But obviously that wouldn't be on a real jersey.
Thanks for the execution notes, I did miss a couple of things there. Ironically, they've since announced that they'll probably be the Charlottetown Islanders, so that PEI logo doesn't make sense anymore.
