Saturday: Has the season started yet?

No, seriously, has it started yet? I'm getting withdrawals.

2015 Winter Classic (by Andy)

I wouldn't be surprised to see a logo along these lines happen sooner rather than later. Having a Winter Classic in Denver certainly makes sense. The question is, of course, who the Avalanche would be playing. It couldn't be the Red Wings since there's no way the Wings would be in two straight Classics. Anyone have any ideas? Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.

Penn State Nittany Lions (by Andy)

Ah, college hockey. I regret never going to see Arizona play when I was at school, but then again, Arizona's an ACHA team and not an NCAA team, so it would have cost me more to go to a game. Anyway, back on topic. The concept is great because it's simple in its execution and the keystone logo is really cool both as a design element and as a primary logo, but you made one small mistake: college hockey teams wear white at home. Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10.

Anaheim Ducks (by Ben)

If the Ducks brought this jersey back as an alternate, even in current colors, I'd be a very happy man. This jersey and the white version were the best alts the Ducks have had, without a doubt, and Ben's done a great job transitioning it to the Edge template. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that I think those two alts were better than their regular jerseys. The only thing is that the original Ducks alt had a solid green color, not the tri-color design here. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.

Carolina Hurricanes (by Dylan A.)

Now this is what the Hurricanes should have done if they insisted on changing their design, which they shouldn't have. The simplification that maintains the warning stripe design really works while providing continuity to their original design. Plus, no more phantom yokes. That's always a plus. They look like the Hurricanes now, not some mish-mash of New Jersey and Canada. Overall, I'll give it a 9/10 and a COTW nomination.

Medicine Hat Tigers (by Dylan W.

If there was ever a team that needed tiger stripes to be incorporated into their design, this is it. I absolutely love this one and I think it's a fantastic idea. If the team had any other name, the stripes would automatically by overkill but here they really work. I don't like the choice of Edge template, though. If I made this concept, I'd use a normal yoked template and wrap the stripes all around the sleeve. Also, I think the orange outlines on the names/numbers on both jerseys are superfluous. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.

HC Energie Karlovy Vary (by Jake)

Honestly, I have yet to see a single concept that makes me like the "horned" Edge template. It just looks bad and unfortunately, this concept suffers for it. I get that it's a way to emulate the team's real life look but it just doesn't work here because it's a bad starting point. On the positive side, the color scheme is really good and the execution is really clean. I think if you moved this to a better Edge template, the design would be much better. Overall, I'll give it a 7/10.

HC Oceláři Třinec (by Jake)

And so we continue our journey across the Czech Republic with a team that looks suspiciously like the Red Wings. This one looks great because it's the opposite of the previous concept. It's simple and effective and the design isn't too out there. It's hurt by the use of the curved arm stripes. I never understood why they made curved stripes like that on the Edge jersey and it's never looked good. Overall, I'll give it an 8.5/10.

Buffalo Sabres (by William)

William's concept is a very interesting take on the Sabres. There's some good and some bad. If not for the fact that the Sabres have a classic look that they need to go back to, this wouldn't be a bad design for them. The horn design is a nice touch, and the fact that the logo has been recolored to fit the proper color scheme instead of that red and black crap is good too. Still, it's still the goat head logo, which has no business being on a Sabres jersey anymore. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.

Anaheim Ducks (by Jets)

If the Ducks wore this jersey in the Stadium Series game, that'd be fantastic. I love the modifications done to their current striping. This pattern here is better than what they currently wear since while the asymmetrical stripe looks good as a hem stripe, the Ducks's sleeve stripes just aren't as good. This is better. The phantom yoke is killing me, though. It really hurts what is otherwise a great design. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.

Chicago Blackhawks (by Jets)

And so we close tonight with an old jersey updated to the modern day in fauxback form. This design essentially melds the Blackhawks' oldest and newest designs with some unique elements, such as the vertical yoke stripes. I've always thought that a team wearing UCLA stripes on their yoke would look pretty good and it definitely does here. I like the collar accuracy, too. So many concepts just slap on a tie-down collar because they assume every jersey had one back then, but the Blackhawks didn't start wearing one until the first incarnation of their modern jerseys in 1955. In fact, the first team to wear a tie-down collar were the Canadiens in 1941, so kudos for getting that throwback detail right. Overall, I'll give it an 8/10.

Minny vs Avs or Winny vs Avs or Stars vs Avs
Personally, I think 2015 should be Winny(peg) vs Minny in The State Of Hockey at Target Field. Last year I went to a Winny-Minny game @Excel and the fans were 50/50 Minny/Winny and all were screaming. Sadly, The Wild lost in a Shoot Out. Still, Minny has the us pond hockey championchips, so why not a winter classic?

Buffalo was one of my favourite teams growing up, right around the time they had the Goat Head logo scheme, so I have a little bit of a soft spot for that logo. Definitely love the classic look more though. Thanks for the review.

Yeah, I'll third Dylan W. for COTW. Great addition to their already existing sweaters. Gives them something somewhat unique.

If I had to choose a matchup for the 2015 Winter Classic, it'd be Blackhawks/Canucks in Vancouver. Now, I know some might say that the Winter Classic should only be played in the US and the Heritage Classic should be reserved for Canadian cities, but they're already breaking boundaries by having a Canadian team play in the 2014 WC so I see no reason why Canada can't host a Winter Classic too. Plus, we've already seen Blackhawks/Red Wings in a Winter Classic. Why not the Hawks' second-biggest rival next?

I really had a hard time deciding between the Dylans for who would get my COTW nomination.
