Thursday: HJC Open voting has begun!

Hello everyone! The voting for Round of the HJC Open begins today (technically last night) so be SURE to get your votes in! This is my first HJC Open and I'm sure it will be fun. I'm up against Andrew G. and Timmy Q. in the first round so it should be close. I have a couple concepts in mind in case I do make it past the first couple rounds, so hopefully I can. Good luck to everyone participating in the HJC Open!

Anyway, I have been working on a site for the past couple of months and it's finally done, for the most part at least. I will be keeping track of what uniforms are worn for each game for each team in the NHL, including the Playoffs and Pre-Season. The site is called the NHL Uniform Matchup Database. Check it out here! You can also like it on Facebook and/or follow it on Twitter. The links to those are at the top of the site. Thanks for checking it out if you do! Now, let's get going!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Don't forget to vote for COTW, COTY-June, and Round 1 of the HJC Open!

COTY-June vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
COTW July 1-7 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
HJC Open Round 1 voting (ends Sunday @ 6pm Eastern)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Carolina Hurricanes concept (By: R.A.)

R.A. starts us off with the new-look Canes. The new jerseys got a bad reaction mostly for the lack of the hurricane-flag striping, and I would have to agree with it. R.A. fixes that problem here. These are definitely better then what we saw on June 4th. One change I don't like is the normal yoke on the white jersey, I wish the longer-square yoke was still there. Overall, good work here. 7.5/10

New York Islanders concept (By: Matt Mc.)

In my opinion, the Islanders should have an orange alternate jersey, and this is something I wouldn't mind seeing. The lighthouse logo looks awesome (although people are getting sick of the roundel logos as we saw with the Stars new unveilings). The striping is great as well. Great job, no complaints. 8.5/10

St. Louis Blues concept (By: Ben S.)

Ben sort of combines the Blues home/road uniforms with the alternate uniform here. I know I'm one of the few when I say this, but I am not a big fan of the Blues alternate. This is a good idea, but needs some work.  The gold hem piping needs to go, but the vertical piping can stay. Also, this needs numbers and a name. On an execution note, there needs to be an NHL logo in the collar insert and the Reebok logo on the back under the collar. This has some potential. 6/10

Washington Capitals concept (By: Stephen T.)

Stephen has another Nike NHL concept for us here. I could definitely see this happening in the future and one thing I notice is the current font being used and it looks fantastic. Great execution and something I wouldn't be surprised to see in the next couple of years. 7.5/10

Hartford Whalers concept (By: Charles W.)

Charles brings us along to a concept for the now-defunct Hartford Whalers. I like all the striping and it all looks pretty good. One thing I'm not a big fan of is the "HARTFORD WHALERS" in the yoke striping. Other then that, great job. 7.5/10

2017 Heritage Classic (MTL vs OTT) concept (By: Michael G.)

Michael has designed some uniforms for a Heritage Classic in 2017. I like the logo that was made for the event, but it could be cleaned up a bit more. The Sens jersey is cool with the barber pole striping, but it seems a bit too much to me. I like the Habs jersey, but the coloring almost looks like  a royal purple. Other then that, I wouldn't mind seeing this. 8/10

Colorado Avalanche concept (By: Kyle N.)

Kyle cleans up the Av's jerseys by removing the "apron stripes" and removing black and silver from the jersey design. I definitely like these and just about anything would be better then what they wear now. On an execution note, there needs to be an NHL logo on the collar insert and a Reebok logo on the back under the collar. Nice job here. 8/10

Utica Comets (AHL) concept (By: Jake88)

The Utica Comets are the newest team in the AHL and they are the Canucks affiliate. They came out with jerseys that were basically just Canucks jerseys with their logo slapped on. These jerseys give the Comets some sort of identity and I love these. The striping is very cool and the "stars" on the hem are awesome. Great job here. 8.5/10 and a COTW nom from me!

Thanks for reading, have a good Friday everyone!

True Hockey fans, I know it blows about the whole Coyote thing, but you must know this...NEVER GIVE UP AT ALL! Where there's a way, there's a will.

This thing is far from over and we can end it long before five years are up by reuniting millions and working on the Coyotes downfall instead of whining and doing nothing.

First, not everything has been approved, and the Coyote owners have until August 5th to get everything approved or else!

Despite what the Goldwater Institute said recently. there is one thing that would get them to go after them anyway...

Money.

Donation money that is. With billions of us true hockey fans out there, we can each spare a ton of money to donate to Goldwater.

Here's a link (to copy and paste) below:

http://goldwaterinstitute.org/

In the upper right corner is a link where you can donate money to Goldwater in order to stop the Coyote thing RIGHT NOW instead of waiting five years. Make sure you tell Goldwater that they did a great job stopping Hulsizer a couple of years ago and that the current deal is no different than the one out there right now. I'm already gathering money up to send there way.

Also, don't forget about:

http://www.moodys.com/research/Moodys-downgrades-Glendale-AZs-GO-rating-to-A2-senior-excise--PR_261198

These guys have downgraded Glendale's bond rate before (as mentioned in the article at the link above) and they can certainly do it again! Please contact Moody's like I plan on doing and show them your support for the continuing of Glendale's bonds being downgraded.

And finally:

This man is trying to start a movement in order to stop this horrible Phoenix Coyote deal once and for all. Please show him your support and help him anyway you can.

Copy and paste this message to other websites as often and frequent as possible. Together we can end this boondoggle and get the Coyotes into Canada where they belong!
