Happy Wednesday everyone! Well, the last few days in my neck of the woods have been scorchers! So I'm spending my day at a waterpark to cool down. Not a lot of news out there the past week so there's really nothing to tell you. But, the HJC Open is still goin' strong and I'd like to congratulate our boy Jets96 on edging me and Ricky out of the first round. Good luck to everyone still in it! New York Rangers Alternate Jersey Concept - (Coby S.)

Coby brings back Lady Liberty, but ditches the red. 2 shades of silver which is better than just one. Ditching the red for the Rangers is a pretty bad move but the concept isn't bad. I would add a little bit of white to the logo and striping, make the jersey less dark overall. I'd also get rid of the white namebar, it just doesn't really look that good. The number font also seems out of place so I'd just stick to what they currently use or at least a normal block font, or, perhaps find something similar to the font in the logo.

Moser Medical Graz 99ers (Austrian Hockey League) - (Jake88)

Never heard of these guys, but Thomas Vanek played with them during the lockout. Here's what the jerseys look like, and I gotta say Jake has improved on the current look. Not only because of the lack of jersey ads either, but the logo is centered properly. Simple jersey designs can go far, so I'm a fan of the look here. Especially since the logo is so basic, you could get crazy with it but Jake didn't and I applaud that, nothing too flashy or original but that's fine, it's a good look.

Vienna Capitals (Austrian Hockey League) - (Jake88)

The Capitals have some pretty gaudy jerseys in their history. Give them a google, it's hard to tell which jersey they use but from what I was seeing it looked like a plain yellow jersey with ads all over it. So right off the bat, this is an improvement. I like the little flames on the cuffs, it's subtle but still a good nod to the logo. I'd like to see some orange, or red, somewhere else in the striping. I'm not a huge fan of the template though, it's not bad, but it's not super good.

Guelph Storm Concept - (Justin S.)

Justin gives the Storm a makeover by recoloring the Carolina Hurricanes now former jersey template. The white jersey is the better of the two here because of the logo on the front and not a wordmark. I'm not a fan of the use of the Hurricanes template. The flag pattern made some sense with the Hurricanes, an argument could be made that it works here because hurricanes are storms, but my main issue is the lack of originality. There's some major pixelation along the stitching throughout the concept.

Detroit Red Wings Concept - (Kyle C.)

Kyle introduces black into the Red Wings color scheme. I'll admit, I really dig the black, red, white color scheme. It's very bold and looks powerful. Jack White has made comments on how powerful the scheme is and that's always stuck with me. Unfortunately, I just can't see the Red Wings wearing black anywhere. The jerseys look sharp don't get me wrong, plus I like that Kyle left the arms on the white jersey red. I do like the jerseys, but don't like that they're being used for the Wings, I also don't care for the outlining of the logo in black.

Ottawa Senators Concept - (Kyle N.)

I really like this! I don't think I've ever seen this done before. Kyle takes the current heritage jersey's striping and recolors it while applying the currently underused 2D Senator logo. I feel like some gold could be used throughout the jerseys and the stripes on the alternate could be moved down the sleeve a little bit, also, the alternate is great as well, great nod to the past.

Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday Night Classic Series - (Jets96)

Jets gives the Penguins a primarily gold jersey based off the early 90's jerseys, and I really like it. One of my favorites in the series so far. I don't like the gold helmet though, I'd stick with a black helmet. I also don't like the Robo-Pen and Skating Penguin coexisting on the same jersey.

Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday Night Classic Series - (Jets96)

Another good effort from Jets. It's nice to see the Capitals in blue, and I've always liked their current logo in this scheme, red letters - white outline - on blue. Of course, I feel this concept could be improved. The arms could use some stripes, so that would probably move the stars on the arms to the chest above the logo. Also, I don't like that the hem stripes don't match the socks. I'd apply the hem stripes to the socks. I'm also curious as to what the Weagle would look like on the chest.
