Wednesday: Last of the Month
Hello and welcome all again! I hope you're all excited for the last post of July which means we'll have a new COTY vote coming up soon. But before that we need to get this last day out of the way. So let's get to it!
Also, to the two left in the HJC Open, your concepts are due by tonight at 6 EST if you haven't gotten them in.
Rating: 7/10
Los Angeles Kings Stadium Series Concept - (Alex H.)
Alex goes the same route with the Kings as he did the Ducks. It's essentially a current Kings jersey with an old logo on it, plus a hem stripe and some pit stains. I don't like the pit stains. but the rest of the jersey is nice. Again, nothing really exciting, it's just a mashup of new and old, and those jerseys aren't very different.
Rating: 6/10
Leesville Pride (High School - Raleigh, NC) - (Coby S.)
Coby's back and he brings us a very rarely seen around these parts High School Concept. First off, I looked up Leesville Pride and didn't find that logo, but I did find it on a stock image site. Make sure you cite where you got your logos from if it's nota commonly used and recognizable logo as per HJC Logo Use Policy. Since it's a Nike jersey you would also want to put your nameplate in the shoulder yoke. There's a few areas where the stitching disappears and you can see where the green circle was on the front of the jersey. Fix those and this is a good looking jersey. Hem stripe would be great too.
Rating: 5/10
Nashville Predators Alternate Jersey Concept - (Coby S.)
Coby's back again with an NHL concept that I feel is showing improvements in Coby's skills. First off I'm noticing the white stripes on the jersey overlap the outline of the template. Also, as this is a Nike jersey, the nameplate would probably go in the yoke, I have yet to see a Nike jersey that doesn't include the name in the yoke. So when the name moves up the number would get bigger. It's nice to see the shoulder logos correctly placed. I'd probably move them down to the end of the yoke, so they are in the little half circle panel. The TV numbers are also incorrectly placed on the back of the jersey.
Rating: 6/10
Carolina Hurricanes Concept - (Felix T.)
Felix seems to have an idea for a fix on the Canes' new red jersey. It's nice to see the flag pattern back on the jersey. I'm indifferent with the two thin white lines instead of one thick one. I also don't care for the return of the ghost yoke outline.
Rating: 7/10
Pittsburgh Penguins Concept - (Felix T.)
Felix returns the Penguins to black and yellow with this concept. I like the striping and this definitely reminds me of the 90's Penguins jerseys which everyone seems to like. I'd like to see an outline on the logo so the penguin doesn't get lost in the black of the jersey. The shade of black on the logo is different from the jersey. Also, the nameplate should be in the yoke on the Nike template.
Rating: 7.5/10
Buffalo Sabres Alternate Jersey Concept - (Kyle C.)
Kyle brings us a much more conservative yellow jersey that what we're being teased lately. I think this concept fits in very well with the jerseys the team wears now. It's got a throwback quality to it. If things end up looking ugly for the Sabres new jersey, I would like to see this get thrown on by the players.
Rating: 8/10
Quebec Nordiques Concept - (Michael G.)
Michael redesigns the defunct Nordiques and leaves out red and the igloo logo. It's actually a bit refreshing to see a Quebec concept that seems to be somewhat modernized instead of a rehash of old jerseys or that old logo. I'm sure it's safe to say that if Quebec gets their team back they'll use the old moniker but pull a "Jets" and have a redesigned logo. I hope they do because as good as these jerseys look, I don't know how I feel about seeing the fleur de lis as the main crest. I'm also noticing that there's two different shades of blue used, it's noticeable between the socks and jersey on the dark set.
Rating: 8/10
Abbotsford Heat Concept - (Ryan - HJC)
Our great leader Ryan brings us a concept featuring one of the younger teams in the AHL. I like his new custom logo which takes the puck and "A" from their current logo. It's better than their current wordmark on the front. I also like the jerseys significantly better than their current set. The only thing I don't like, and it's a personal problem, is the pit stains. I'd prefer no piping and a hem stripe as well.
Rating: 8.5/10
Cincinnati Stingers Concept - (William B.)
And we'll end today with an old WHA concept. I like where this concept is headed. Especially the squared off yoke. I feel the arm stripes could be thicker and either have less or have them go all the way up the arm to the yoke. I'm ok with the number font but I don't like all the outlines on the name. It's hard to read.
Rating: 7/10
Also, if possible could someone with more knowledge on the Nike Swift template confirm my beliefs that the nameplate is always in the yoke, if not at least very close to the top of the jersey?! I noticed that mistake in a lot of concepts today.

COTW July 22-28 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm EST)
Also, Ted N. would like to us to share this online Uniform Design Class. I'm sure some of our new concept artists would like to check this out to help refine their design skills. And maybe some of our more experienced artists maybe to practice. Check it out!
Anaheim Ducks Stadium Series Concept - (Alex H.)
With the recent news that the Ducks will be "Mighty" once again for a few games this upcoming season, it now seems almost for sure, to me anyway, that the Ducks will take this route and go "Mighty" for the Stadium Series. Essentially a current Ducks jersey recolored with a new logo. Nothing too imaginative but I can't imagine anyone being disappointed if the Ducks wore this exact jersey.Rating: 7/10

Yes, on the current Nike jerseys NOB's are in the shoulder yokes. Hence why they are bigger than standard Reebok yokes.
Alright, sweet, just makin' sure
The kings current jersey have the "pit stains". If anyone has one without that is because it is a knock off.
You're right anon. I just dislike them so much I tend to ignore them
Ryan's Heat for COTW
I love Ryans Heat concept except for one thing. I think the red jersey would look better if the logo was black. It would definitely pop out more.
I'll second Ryan's Abby jersey for COTW. Agree with Austin. The red A on red background gets lost. Love the simplified logo though.
I think instead of making it black, because I think the puck might be lost. Either keep the streak red and make the background A black, or make it white.
