Tuesday: More Alternate Jersey Madness!!!

Hello again and happy Tuesday! It's that time of year again. Boring old summer. I don't know about you guys but all I have to tide me over 'til the fall is baseball... Which as a Cubs fan isn't always a good thing. But... I still have good ol' HJC. Keep HJC fun during these slow summer months by voting and joining competitions!

We have a lot of alternate jerseys today, 7 out of 8 concepts are just alternate jerseys... so let's get into that........

Anaheim Ducks Alternate Jersey

This jersey is very simple and for some teams... might work, but the Ducks have always had very modern jerseys. This is inspired by Mario A.'s Ducks concept from a couple weeks ago. This seems like a more refined version of that set. I don't care for the arm striping in these colors. I've never been a big fan of the bronze to be honest. I also don't like the wordmarks on the hem of the jersey. That's something that the LA Kings kind of own, and you would think that rivals wouldn't mimic each other's jerseys.

St. Louis Blues Alternate Jersey Concept - Christian L.

Interesting logo choice. It's weird to see a logo that's gone unchanged for so long get modernized. I can see how some might think this could work but I think getting the note's wing flattened and sharpened makes it lose some character. But it does fit in with striping and stitching patterns. Can't say I'm a fan of the striping though. It's definitely unique and I haven't seen anything like it. I feel like theres a team somewhere that could pull this off, but I don't think it's the Blues. I don't care for the stripes on the pants and the collar is a different color on the back of the jersey.

New Jersey Devils Alternate Jersey Concept - Kevin D.

Kevin utilizes the Flyers'/Thrashers old Edge template as a new Devils' jersey. I think this would work for a Devils' jersey. The points on arms resemble Devil horns. I think it'd look better if they were red instead of white. It'd be nice to see some equipment to go with the jersey. I'm assuming we'd see a black helmet and pants.

New York Rangers Alternate Jersey Concept - Ricky M.

It'd be odd to see the Blueshirts in a red jersey. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it if done correctly. I think this is one of those instances where it could work, but there's a few tweaks to be made. I don't think the Lady Liberty logo looks good in royal blue so good idea keeping it navy... but it doesn't fit in with the regular royal blue throughout the rest of the jersey. Change all the blue on the jersey to navy. The shoulder logos are too close to the collar so those should be out a bit further. The TV numbers are also missing. Some equipment would be nice too, I feel like the usual red pants would make this set way too red.

St. Louis Blues Alternate Jersey Concept - Scott B.

Very simple jersey here for the Blues and honestly, that's the best look for them, something simple and basic. Not a big fan of white yokes but sometimes I think they can work... I'm very "meh" about it here though. I like the logo choice. I'd rather see the primary note logo on the shoulders and not another roundel. The shoulder logos are too small as well. I like the striping pattern but it looks like the alignment is ever so slightly off.

Vienna Capitals (Erste Bank Hockey League) - Mollie G.

Here's something we don't see here too often, a concept for a team in the Austrian Hockey League. I like seeing the team's logo on the front of the jersey as opposed to a big ad. The jersey striping resembles the clubs primary logo. I don't care for two different pants colors. I'd rather see the back pants for both uniforms. Not a bad set, I definitely prefer them over what they actually wear.

Winnipeg Jets Alternate Jersey Concept - s2dio

The Jets are due for a third jersey and s2dio shares his ideal sweater. I like the alternate logo on the front of the jersey but not so sure about the "Winnipeg"... I'd rather just see "JETS". I like the striping as well but I feel like the white stripes are too thick. Thin them out and this would be a fantastic jersey. I also want to see some red in the yoke, so maybe make that silver line red.

Washington Capitals Alternate Jersey Concept - s2dio

This jersey definitely has a European vibe to it. Looks like something that a soccer jersey would try. It also resembles the Russian Olympic jerseys from this year, so it wouldn't be too new to Ovechkin... I really want this to work. I don't like the blue side panels, they should have the same white/blue/red as the torso. Not so sure on the yoke either, I'd try without the side panels and then give it a shot.
