I was thinking about starting a HJC Competition this week, but trying to run that and take care of Griffins entries at the same time would have been a nightmare for me right now. Instead we're going to have a fun vote...
HJC wants to know which NHL team has the most fans here on the blog. Head over to the FAV TEAM tab or click the banner at the top of the page. Let us know who your favourite NHL team is. You also get to tell us which team you would like to see lose all 82 games on their schedule and have to fold and never be seen in the NHL again. That's right, we're looking for the most hated and most loved NHL teams amongst HJC readers. Go to the page and leave your comment now.
I've gotten several emails from readers about the Grand Rapids Griffins Competition. Most of the people are asking if they can use a template other than the Reebok Premiere Template. The Griffins have requested that entrants use that template.
The following comments are my opinion and not necessarily those of the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Templates should never be used as an excuse for a bad
concept. You may prefer some over others, but you should never use it
as an excuse. There's likely a reason why the Griffins asked people to
use that template. My guess is, that's the template Reebok uses to make
their jerseys. Many, if not every, NHL team has used this template
effectively to demonstrate their jerseys digitally. Here are just a
small handful of examples.
My personal opinion is that the artists are seeing some borders and limitations. The only borders and limitations that really exist are the exterior lines of the template. Here, try this...

Voting ends on Friday, but no need to wait. You're on the internet now and opening up your email isn't too difficult, especially in our current technology era. I just tried it and I was able to open up a new window and submit a COTW in 23 seconds. Beat that!

"my team that you could say is a "beer-league" team needs away jerseys. I could design them myself as i have in the past but my computer broke down a few weeks back and it'd be fun to see what HJC readers could create for us. Our team is called Helsinki Super Skunks, often just referred to as the Skunks and our colours are Minnesota green, black and white. Our home jersey is mainly green and it uses Calgary template with our colors. Its an ok looking jersey, and our logo is something we cherish a lot. We have a tournament coming up and i think we need two jerseys for that and it is in consideration if we should get a light jersey also. Any intrest or ideas? The logos i can send you and you can check out our website and jerseys at superskunks.com"If you want to take a crack at Tatu's request then send along your concept to HJC and I will forward them to Tatu.

Thanks for clarifying what we can do with that template Ryan! I was thinking I had to stick with the basic yoke and that was really messing with me cause I had a distinct design in mind when I first heard of the comp but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use it with the basic yoke.
I used to write for HCI...wish they didn't switch to instagram
