TGIF! Welcome back to the Friday post!

Hey the Leafs made a trade! What a trade it was...for the Preds. If there's one thing the Preds are good at, it's well timed trades and picking up discarded players and making them play well. Cody Franson was NOT happy nor productive in Toronto and Santorelli was sadly, one of the Leafs' best and most productive players along with Daniel Winnik (Who is still up for grabs). The best team in the NHL only gets better with this trade. As for the Leafs.... Olli Jokinen, I'll leave it at that.

As Caz said on his way out the door, voting is statistically shown though research at HJC's really totally not fake labs in remote Saskatchewan to increase your team's chances of making an excellent trade before the deadline.

It takes two minutes and you should really do it. The first COTY vote of the year for January is only the beginning of many other important votes, and we can't have COTY without COTW! The long lasting World Cup of Hockey contest is also nearing its end, with the final vote, remember to vote for that as well, it's only a simple comment with a google account!

On to the concepts!

NHL All Star Concepts (By: Alex O.)

+ Great to see a concept from Alex again! It's been too long!

+ The Flyers esque armbands would work for an All Star game, they look great on the Swift Template

+ Getting rid of the silver automatically upgrades the idea of neon green

- While neon green looks good, how great would orange look. These concepts have a really early 80's old school vibe to them and this would be an excellent way to bring back orange without going full-blown throwback

- The lack of stars on the All Star jersey does hurt its appeal, and with a bare hem, how good would that look?

- The Numbers and NOB are too small

6.75/10- A good idea, and one that would work, but boring as is 

Oklahoma State Cowboys Concepts (By: Mario A.)

+ OSU's logo goes will with this eye popping design

+ Colours are balanced perfectly on the white jersey

+ Mario's font skills are improving on the back, great to see

+ Nice touch adding the helmet logo

- The jerseys are recolouring of the Japan IIHF template on the sports logos.net fourm, it'd be nice to see some original striping or something added to the template 

- The mesh that isn't white should have similar coloured dots on the inside, not just left white 

-The orange on the jersey doesn't match the logo 

- NCAA teams have the NCAA logo or the hockey conference they are in on they jerseys

Miami Hurricanes NCAA Concepts (By: Mario A.)

+ Again, good detail with the helmet logo

+ Big simple striping does work for the 'Cans and matches their simple logo 

- The green jersey's logo stands out like a sore thumb because of the fuzzy white outline around it

- The tv number should go inside the second part of the yoke, not squished in between the striping 

- The green jersey would look better without a yoke, the orange yoke doesn't match the striping

- Primary logo is too big, and squished the Captain's C 

6/10- Underwhelming and execution errors really hurt this concept

Star Wars Concept (By: Ryan G.)

+ Though I'm not a huge fan of movie + sports crossover, this concept looks great 

+ Yellow and black are the colours of the big floating space letters, so it's only fitting 

+ The stripes are numerous and stand out perfectly again the black

+ The helmet is the best part of the concept, that stripe looks great

- The hem stripes are too close to the hem

- The tv numbers are too close to the arm stripes

- STAR WARS is in an awkward place on the jersey, I'd move it up or make it bigger

Confederacy of Independent Systems Concept (By: Ryan G.)

+ Solid colour scheme for a made up team

+ Nice work making the alien font into hockey font

+ I'm not sure if that's the logo of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, but it looks great

- Errors with the hem striping and tv numbers continue over

- The hexagon logo appears a few too many times on the concept (5), I'd take the logo off the socks (The other shoulder patch would make a better sock logo is you really needed one) and the shoulder

Los Angeles Kings Concept (By: Steven G.)

+ The Kings NEED to wear grey after their Stadium Series jerseys last year were so well recieved 

+ Great to see an non-chrome version of the crown alone on a jersey

+ This is what I mean about modifying templates, mixing the Flyers'/Kings' arm curve with a normal straight arm stripe gives you an awesome design 

+ Execution, as expect from Steven, is phenomenal 

- I would have carried over the black past the white band on the arms, so there was not awkward grey patch on the cuffs 

- The pants could use some white 

9/10- COTW Nom from me!
