Saturday: Logo Policy!!!!
The winner of the final COTW vote for July was Chris W.
Chris' concept moves into the COTY-July vote. He joins four concepts from Christian L! The poll is the red one on the side of the page. You have until Friday at 11:59pm Eastern to pick your favourite. Also be sure to check out the entrants by going to the COTY 2015 tab.
The first COTW vote for August is underway. This is for the week of August 2-8 and the vote ends on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern. The poll is on the side of the page and is in black. Check out the concepts on the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page and then place your vote in the poll.
Here are the last two entries into the WWE Competition.
Voting will now begin. There are a small amount of entries so we will be doing a Top 4 vote instead of our usual Top 5. Vote carefully as there are only 4 entries that correctly used the HJC Logo Use Policy. Voting ends on Friday. Voting will be done in the comments section on the WWE COMP page.
Why is the Logo Use Policy so hard to understand? It's getting to the point where I am seriously going to require EVERY logo, no matter how relevant it is, to be cited. Such a fundamental shift would cause a lot of problems for some people though.
I didn't just create the policy to be a dick to people. If you didn't create something then you need to let people know who did. As a last resort, you need to tell people where you got that logo or picture from. Think about how you would feel if a random person grabbed your concept and made it into an actual jersey and never once acknowledged that it was your idea that they took.

"Citation is not needed when using former and current logos from commonly known sports teams."
I thought the logos would go under this category. It's not a sports team, but I don't see the difference.
If so many entries are against the rules, it's probably because the rules suck or they're terribly explained.
I agree with Bob that re-explaining the rules might be a good idea.
I had my WWE entry denied for a reason that I still don't know. I followed every rule, cited every logo twice, and I still wasn't entered. Something may have completely slipped my mind, and I have no problem if my entry was denied for a reason like that.
I understand that Ryan doesn't have to respond to each person via e-mail if something isn't done right. I just couldn't quite figure this one out.
I would for the most part ignore Bob's comment but perhaps a rephrasing of the policy might be in order to clear up some of the confusion. Certain questions are also left unanswered from the description of "Citation is not needed when using former and current logos from commonly known sports teams."
What if I recolor a logo or perhaps modify it would that need to be cited?
What if I use part of a logo to create a new logo? Is that considered my own logo or would I need to cite the original?
What about original logos? How would credit myself?
Maybe a rephrasing of the policy could clear up some of the confusion
How about this.... If you didn't 100% create a logo. It needs to be cited... Except for logos for say, NHL, AHL, etc.
I'm with Ryan... I don't see how it's so hard to understand
Dylan what you said is exactly what's confusing about this whole situation. "etc." needs to be better defined. WWE is technically a sports league and you can define the fighters as "teams" so I don't see how the logos need to be cited.

If you are intelligent enough to create a jersey and submit it, it's safe to assume you have basic English comprehension. The policy is very clear, and for a competition why run the risk?

"Citation is not needed when using former and current logos from commonly known sports teams."
Please tell me how the logos used on the entries broke this real? Because I'm still trying to figure this out. If you're so intelligent then you tell us.
I've read everyone's feedback and I will be rephrasing the HJC Logo Use Policy.
@Taylor Roy, WWE is not a Sports league (or team) it is a entertainment company. And therefore should be cited as any other entertainment property would be. Hope that clears that up.
@Ryan G
No it doesn't clear it up. It's a widely used logo and should not need citing. If I were to include a logo of Disney in my design, would I have to site the creator? No.
@ Taylor If you used a Disney logo you would have to use citations. Sorry you can't comprehend that. People made mistakes, end of story.
@Ryan G
Public domain images shouldn't need citation. A widely known image shouldn't either.
