Tuesday: Crazy Day

So, if you are extremely late to the party or haven't been on the internet in the last couple of hours then you probably know about all the leaked info regarding NHL jerseys. First let's start off with the Anaheim Ducks and Colorado Avalanche alternate jerseys.

Anaheim Ducks:

In a nutshell, I expected this. It's a great move. Only better one would be to make the eggplant jersey the alternate, am I right? Or to bring the Mighty look back full time. In regards to matching their identity though, this was the best move in my opinion. The orange looks beautiful and the black being the accent color really makes it pop out. As always, not really a fan of that bronze-goldish color but to me everything else about it looks great. If I don't get an actual Mighty Ducks throwback jersey soon I'll think about getting that jersey. Hey, it might arrive at my house before my O'Reilly jersey...that I bought one month ago and it still hasn't shipped!!!!

Colorado Avalanche:

Alright. That word I think is a good way to describe the jersey. It's alright. It's really simple and I initially thought it was going to be the Stadium Series jersey...and those apparently 'leaked' today to..and woah...if those are real I will seriously not watch the game. That's how ugly they look. This jersey though sadly, is the best looking jersey Colorado has and it's a shame too. Not saying it's bad, it's a good alternate for the most part, but damn, just going back to their originals would be such a fantastic idea. Granted I would like to see a new great design but it's such an easy decision to go back or at least adapt that old design into a new one. I do really like the white yolk, and I'm always a fan of the blue so...good job.

Nashville unveiled a gold helmet for a select few games. I'll have to see for certain during a game to see if I like them. I'm giving them a chance. On their own the gold looks nice and classy. I'm trying to picture it on players and I don't see it being a problem, but for me I'll just wait and see. Anything else? Because I really don't even want to speak about the supposed Stadium Series jerseys. So let's just move on to the post. Hopefully the NHL and Reebok see the reaction of the fans and decide to scrap the idea and then ask HJC to host a contest for it. That would be my decision at least. Do you agree? Hey Ryan, would you like to see that happen?

Charlotte Checkers Concept - Brooks Freeman

 Brooks gives Charlotte a little modern throwback here. I believe this used to be their color scheme, or at least a variation of their color scheme before their ties with the Hurricanes. It's an interesting design. Usually the half stripes are underneath the arms cut off from the sleeve but this time it's cut off from the side panels. Simplicity wise, taking away that side panel I think would make the jersey look better. Completing the stripes around obviously. That's a bit boring though, so I'm glad you tried something. I guess my way of keeping this idea and making it look better would be to have more of a design to the side panels. Right now it's just a boring straight...hit the stitching..then back down. I say make it more exciting. That would be up to you what to do but that's just my two cents. You did a good job of making it unique. Now just make it more exciting!

Houston Saturns Concept - Christian L.

 Very interesting name. It's very unique and with made up teams to set yourself apart from everyone else I guess that's a good thing. Another double blue look and this one is actually pretty simple for an out of the ordinary design. It's something you really don't see but it looks classic. Now as I look, is that a double blue..or a dark purple and blue? I really like the lighter shade of purple you used in the logo, but it doesn't look like it's used on the jerseys. I would actually like to see what it would look like with that lightershade. Christian, you know me on twitter...so just send me a picture of that please :P. Overall, it's very nice. I really like what you did with the numbers. Added something new for the team that is unique to them. Great thinking. Logo is very nicely done and thought out. Again, Saturns....I'd have to come around to that name.

 Anaheim Ducks Concept - Vaughn Roberts

 In the news to the Anaheim leak Ryan perfectly gave me two Anaheim concepts for the day to end it off. I'm pretty sure Ryan is part of the leaking club of the NHL. It's a conspiracy theory I've been working on. A whole running website will be made soon to talk more about it. In all seriousness though, this jersey to me is a big negative. I mean, the home jersey and alternate are fine but it doesn't give any character to the Ducks. It's just like a street hockey team not having enough money to get their own design and had to stick with the default look. I like the orange jerseys look simply because of the colors but it doesn't fit the Ducks whatsoever. As a whole, I think this needs to be thought out more.

Anaheim Ducks Concept - ???

This Anaheim Ducks Concept by Zachary E. does not have a name on it. Zach, make sure you ID your concepts so people know who made it! If you didn't name it on your file then no one would ever know. This jersey is pretty similar to the actual alternate. In a way. The slanted striping to fit the old jerseys and adding a black yoke (something that I think would have made the jerseys look better). It doesn't look bad. Striping is okay. Sometimes I would dislike the fact that the hem striping is slanted but the arm striping is straight but I don't mind it here. Maybe make the yoke squared off or adding something else to it. Just looks a bit plain. Nice job though. Pretty close to the actual real design, Zach!
