Wednesday: Great Concept Day
Howdy everyone! Hope you're having a good week so far!
Ok only one real thing happened so far this week and it's been covered so I'll do what I normally do in this situation.
Grand Rapids changed their logo, color scheme, and the jerseys.... Logo bleh... jerseys are alright... and as for the color scheme, it fits with their parent club's a lot better, so kudos.
You know who else could use a makeover? The Colorado Avalanche... what? We have a competition going on right now!? As well as a COTW vote!?! Get that stuff in then!!!
Speaking of Avs entries..
Zach E.
Taylor R.
Vaughn R.
And now concepts!
Toronto Arenas Concept - Lucas D.
Well first off, the logo is so pixelated it looks like it came straight from a GameBoy screen. The whole image is pretty pixelated, but I'll look past it. The skyline striping is an ok idea, but it's best suited for fan merchandise... alternate jersey at best. It leaves this weird blank spot underneath and I feel like something should be there. The logo is longer than it is wide too, by a lot, and it just looks weird on the front of a jersey. Most logos are either square-ish or wider than they are tall. The yokes and collars look good but that's really where that stops. The inside of the white jersey's collar should be red.

Danbury Titans Concept - Ryan C.
A buddy of mine played in the FHL and ended the year with the Whalers, of course they moved and are being replaced with this team. Pretty basic jersey but I think there's way too much green. If it was a different shade of green it'd be whatever, but this is a weird bright shade I don't care for.

Premier League Hockey Series - Man City Concept - Matt G.
Pretty good looking set here. I don't hate the hem stripes like I thought I would. It definitely doesn't look right on the socks. The gloves are 'dope' as well. Honestly, I just saw Man City's away kit for this year, and it's the first time I've ever seen a soccer jersey and said "I need that". I love the sublimated moon, you definitely should have thrown that in here. Put real stripes on the socks and maybe make the slant on the rest of the stripes less extreme. Otherwise, I really like this.

Sami Zayn Concept - Brian B.
Holy Checkerboards Batman! I don't know much about the WWE so I'm just going to rate pure aesthetics here. Looks alright. The checkerboard pattern is a bit much. I'd try to be more subtle with it. I don't like how the pants and sock striping don't match. Overall though, jersey on its own... not bad, but with the other equipment and its mismatching striping it's whatever.

Minnesota Wild Concept - Jimmy T.
Minnesota has a weird mish mash of designs. A cool modern away and some throwbacky home and third jerseys. Jimmy gives them a cohesive look here and I'm on board. Especially with the Beat Head Thing on the chest of the home and away. Everything here looks good, and the best part of the third jersey is that even though it's essentially the same jersey as the other two, the extra beige/cream stripe gives it its own character. I think the striping on the sock is slightly too high and it'd be great to see the rest of the equipment.
Rating: 8.5/10
Phoenix Quebec City Coyotes Concept - John E.
I think this is a fun concept. It wouldn't happen but the little hat on the Coyote makes everything better. The jerseys themselves are pretty good too. I like the claw marks behind the fleur de lis. The only thing I really don't like are the icicle things going across the chest and back. The gloves and pants could use some black in my opinion too.
Rating: 8.5/10
San Diego Gulls Concept - Ryan C.
I would much prefer to see the Gulls hit the ice in these rather than their weird Calgary Ducks jerseys. They need a cleaner look like this with their color scheme. It's already going to be bright and demand attention, there's no need to clutter it with piping and stuff. Kudos Ryan.

@ D-Bro: The striping pattern is based on Sami Zayn's ring attire. And it's a Canadiens jersey because Sami Zayn is from Montreal.
