Sunday: Last But Not L'East
Hello and welcome to another Sunday HJC post.
So to complete my trilogy of logo power-rankings, here is my ranking for the best logos of the QMJHL:
First up is Duncan, showing off his redesign for Team Mexico.
The colours are well balanced.
The logo is better than the one they use on their jerseys now.
Cool stripe pattern that really stands out, but fits traditional hockey styles.
A team wearing these would at least look like a legitimate hockey power country.
The name looks a little too small, or not spaced out enough.
The primary jersey could use more white.
Overall: A really solid jersey good enough for any national team. 8.5/10
Colorado Avalanche - Phil B.
Next up is Phil's Colorado Avalanche concept for their 20th Anniversary.
The arm stripes really fit the team's identity.
The front of the yokes also add to the team's look.
Adding a little more black has worked well for this concept.
Believable redesign.
The numbers look a little off with black outlines.
The square back on the yoke is kind of boring and doesn't help the overall look/
Wish the hem stripe had a "mountain" design similar to the arms.
Overall: Decent, and believable, but not a perfect fix yet. 7.7/10
Old Sith Empire (Star Wars) - Ryan G.
I'll give my COTW nomination today to Duncan L's Team Mexico jersey.
Don't forget to get your votes in for all of our polls this week.
Thanks for reading, and have a good week!
So to complete my trilogy of logo power-rankings, here is my ranking for the best logos of the QMJHL:
This looks like a logo fit for a industrial training manual.
This isn't too bad of a logo, but there was no good reason to get rid of their old colour scheme for this.
Trendy, but looks more like a fashion logo than a sports logo.
Another case of a good logo needlessly recoloured.
Actually one of the best designs here, besides the awful use of white text on light blue background.
A cartoonish logo that is pretty similar to the next entry.
Vastly inferior to their Medicine Hat cousins.
A little dated.
A little dated.
A little dated.
Not dated. A decent update, but a little clumsy.
Good logo, lame colours.
Beer, that's all.
Fierce logo, but the water almost looks like fire instead.
Fierce, unique, and pretty well designed.
Probably would have won my vote if they kept the cream colour instead of white.
Beautiful new logo.
A fantastic update from their previous logos. This logo is easily the most professional looking logo in a league that for the most part is weak in the logo category. This logo, as well as the Hitmen, Generals, and a 4th wildcard team will be compared and voted on next week for the Memorial Cup of Logos.
Who has the best logo in the CHL? Let me know, and that team might be included next week. I'd like to hear about your lists as well, and what you agree/disagree with my lists.
Almost time for concepts now, but first, we have 3 votes this week I have to let you guys know about. First off, the Grey competition has lots of fantastic entries, so it'll be hard to pick a favourite (let alone 5), but good luck to everyone who entered. We also have the COTW vote, and the COTY 3rd Quarter Vote. 3 concepts, one moving on to the final set of votes in January, you decide who makes it that far.
3rd Quarter Vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
COTW Oct 11-17 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
Grey Jersey Comp Top 5 vote (ends Friday @ 10:59pm Eastern)
Alright, time for concepts!
Team Mexico - Duncan L.

Old Sith Empire (Star Wars) - Ryan G.
Last up is a jersey for the Old Sith Empire in the Star Wars universe.
Colours match the theme of the jersey.
The font used could only work for a theme jersey like this.
Simple but effective jersey design.
With this design, and the use of brown pants, this looks like a jersey from long ago in a galaxy not far away at all.
You could probably do without the yoke.
Would look a little better if the logo was in the center of the chest stripe.
Overall: I don't know enough Star Wars lore to properly review this, because maybe I've missed some connections and references. But for what I see, it's a Sith throwback, and that's pretty darn cool. 8/10
I'll give my COTW nomination today to Duncan L's Team Mexico jersey.
