Thursday: Triple Threat 2.0

Hello again everyone and welcome back again!

Small tidbit of news for today but no actual unveilings, only that the Bruins' Winter Classic jersey will be unveiled on the 24th, so we'll get to see it then, unless it leaks of course.

In a similar scenario to Dylan yesterday, I'm thinking I'm going to start an NHL countdown. Of what? Not sure yet, but regardless of what it is I have 30 teams to go through and not enough time to have that ready for today. I may start it next week but I also have something else planned so it may be the week after.

This week we have, as always, the concept of the week vote, and this week we also have our monthly vote for the concept of the month to end up in the 3rd quarter vote, the last one for the quarter also. And along with that, we have the grey jersey competition. That's right, you have to make your jersey 100% grey! I'm just kidding you can have other colors. So go vote and jersey conceptualize.
Grey Jersey Competition (entries due Friday @ 10:59pm Eastern)
COTY-September vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
COTW Oct 4-10 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
***Late edit***
I forgot to post the competition entries earlier so here they are, apologies for that, but better late than never I suppose.

So three concepts this week, let's get to it:

Phil B. - Calgary Flames
+Hem stripes are back, something that they haven't had (at least not for the home/away set) since 2007
+I like the color balance on here
+The white flaming C looks much better than the black in my opinion
-I would switch the black and yellow stripes on the red jersey to achieve even better color balance, and because I think the black looks better as just an accent color, similar to how the North Stars used it (before they made their last jersey switch at least)
-I would also remove the yoke, at least on the red jersey, or maybe just change the design of it
Overall: Solid upgrade (8/10)

Taylor R. - HK Nitra
+Double blue
+The popularity of these concepts has died down but the half/half colored concepts still look great if executed correctly
+Vast improvement over what they currently wear
-Even though it's a light color the teal/light blue color may not be light enough to make the white jersey look like a white jersey. I'd have to see it on the ice to really know though.
Overall: Another solid upgrade (8.5/10) and my COTW nomination!

Ryan G. - Star Wars - First Order
I apologize if I miss some subtle references, I'm not very knowledgable with Star Wars
+One thing I can say though is that as always with these Star Wars concepts, I like the nameplate and numbers and even (what I assume is) the C/A patch.
+I think the yoke shape fits well
+The logo being on the arms in the stripes is a good idea, similar to the Hawks' Classic jerseys this past year
-However, it's a bit redundant to have the same logo twice
-The stripes could also benefit from being thicker and bolder
Overall: Another solid concept to end out the day (8/10)

That's all for today folks. Do you have something else to say about today's concepts, or did you disagree with me? Then leave a comment! I hope you enjoyed the post, thanks for reading, and I'll see you all again next week!

I actually tried to switch the black and yellow stripes on the red jersey, but one thing I've learned over the course of nearly 4 years reading this blog, white and yellow do not look good next to each other. The white yoke is there to match the striping and balance things out.
