Tuesday: Halloweek

Hello everybody! A new day and a new week has started! How is everyone doing lately? For the ones that have their career already, for the ones in school, hope you're doing great. Today we finish off one of the league's logo tournaments with a great matchup. For all that have voted so far, thank you! For the ones that haven't make sure you be apart of possibly the greatest sporting event ever!

We have a COTW vote going on too at the side of the page. That takes half of a second to do, so there is no excuse for that. We also have the new Rewrite History competition. Right now you have to remake the 1996 World Cup of Hockey Logo. Good luck to all in voting or submitting entries this week!

OHL LOGO TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

 VS.

OSHAWA GENERALS VS. SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS

(Oshawa 8-2 over Kingston - - SOO 4-3-3 over London and Hamilton)

There it is, the final matchup for this league. Winner will advance to the Tournament final which will be roughly 6 months from now if we continue at this pace, but hey, it gets us doing something on posts!

COTW Oct. 18-24 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
REWRITE HISTORY- Entry Phase (ends Wednesday Nov. 4th @ 9:59pm EST

----------------------------------------------------------------

Twitter Jersey Concept - Dylan T
I would expect this to be Twitter's hockey team jersey if they have had a social media hockey tournament. Dylan uses Arial I believe which is Twitter's main font. That or Helvetica Neue. On a sports jersey the font does not look good at all, but I understand why it's used. I think if you want to go in a more eye pleasing font you go with a block number font for aesthetic. If you want to bring in the whole theme of the site though, I would say this is an ok font choice. Just doesn't please my eye on a uniform. The rest of the uniform very simple and basic. I would assume Facebook's would be similar but a darker shade of blue. I think having the hem being just a stripe would look better though.

Buffalo Sabres Concept - Jan S.
Jan gives the Sabres a new third jersey. The primary logo used is the old shoulder patches during the slug days. To me, that type of logo should stay secondary. Even though it's the only Sabres logo of all time that actually makes sense to the team name. The striping and consistency of the design is all over the place though. I would prefer you take the arm striping and move that to the hem. The hem with that striping could potentially look great. The sock desig you have really throws me for a loop. It shares not design elements with the rest of uniform, so that definitely needs changing from my perspective. Make those changes and I think you could be on to a decent third jersey.

Minnesota Magicians Concept - Michael L.
Looking on Google, no jersey the Magicians have ever worn is memorable or even the slightest good looking. I think Michael drops the ball here by using a cookie cutter reebok template. I don't really see any true identity here. I think the gray jersey with black and red color scheme would look great but I think you need to go through more process of how to give them their own identity, or take the identity of the name 'Magicians' and show that in a jersey. Execution all around looks nice though. Just would want you to explore more options.

Rating: 7.7/10

Edmonton Oilers Concept - Ryan C.
Ryan looks at the new Oilers alternates and says orange should be the primary color. And by the way the concepts looks maybe I wouldn't be against it. The real negative when doing Oilers concepts is that I think you need some type of shoulder design or some logo there (in in their case, shoulder numbers). To me when there is an Oilers concept without anything on the shoulders it feels very empty, and that's the vibe I'm getting here. Striping is simple and reminds me a lot of the Islanders. They'd get a lot of flack for that if they released those white jerseys. On the orange I would outline the numbers. Just a nice small blue one would make them pop a bit more from the lighter orange.

Rating: 8.3/10

New Orleans Pelicans Concept - Taylor R.
T-ROY HITS US WITH THE CROSSOVER series that he's been working on. This jersey is no different than the others when the execution and design is superb. The home jersey isn't necessarily great looking to me. However, keeping in mind it's a basketball teams hockey jersey and that it gives us something new to look at to ponder I enjoy it. My one negative as a whole on the concept is on the white jersey's color choices. I think the navy blue would look a lot better in the gold area. The dark jersey has a very deep feel and dense while the white doesn't feel like the same team. It looks lighter and feels weaker with more gold. That would be my only change though.

Generals!

COTW Nom to Jan S.
Sabres need a full yellow jersey, and to wear a jersey with a logo that doesn't have a big, hairy animal on it

First off, I'll go with the Gens. Secondly, Taylor R. for COTW.

I'll give Ryan C my COTW Nom, but if the away jersey on the Pelicans crossover had better colour balancing I'd give it a COTW Nom in a heart beat
