Tuesday: Midterm Week

Hello audience! I don't know how many of you go to college but roughly around this time would be midterm week. The week has treated me well so far. The only hiccups were printing out some projects. My school has a ton of printing equipment but the printers themselves either are broken or can only connect to one or two computers in a room. So there's a lot of errors and waiting around.

I know what you all are waiting for though. The "conference finals" of the OHL Logo Tournament! Down to the last five. Top voted team last week versus the least voted team last week. Then the three others will be in a tri-battle for that finals! Lets get it on!

OHL Logo Tournament Round 3:

1.) Oshawa Generals vs. 5.) Kingston Frontenacs
(Oshawa 8-3 over Mississauga - Kingston 6-5 over Barrie)

London Knights vs. SOO Greyhounds vs. Hamilton Bulldogs
(London 7-4 over Peterborough - SOO 7-4 over Ottawa - Hamilton 7-4 over North Bay)

There are our final matchups before the OHL final! Who moves onto the championship? You decide!

3rd Quarter Vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
COTW Oct 11-17 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
Grey Jersey Comp Top 5 vote (ends Friday @ 10:59pm Eastern)

Team Netherlands Concept - Duncan L.
I always love the blue and orange color combo. To me the design is pretty plain and simple but the colors work well together that it's bold enough to stand well on it's own. I'm not sure I agree with the hem striping on the back. I get how it matches the arms but it looks awkward going onto the back. To me anyways. I would actually take out the white out of the name outline on the back. The brightness of the orange kind of gets taken over and they are battling together. On the numbers it's fine because they are big enough to not ruin it.

2016 Winter Classic Concept - Josiah B.
Josiah gives us a visual of his Winter Classic idea. The Boston one is great. It's simple but it's something that would look great on the ice come January 1st. The Canadiens one is decent. On the red numbers and name that is NOT on the chest stripe I would have a blue outline. The number on the back does not need that blue outline though. I would just add it to the others so the blue is more relevant and doesn't feel empty on the top of the jersey.

2016 Winter Classic Concept - Lucas D.
Lucas now gives his viewpoint on the Winter Classic game. The Boston jersey for the most part is exactly the same as the previous one that we saw but with black instead of brown. At least for the jersey. I think the brown in the logo seems out of the place. Doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the jersey. I like the shoulder patch you added. The Canadiens jersey again is roughly similar. The logo colors are changed and I think the C needs a red or blue outline to the logo. The brown pants and gloves..................I'M A FAN! DO IT! I honestly want a team to do it already just so we can see how it will look on the ice. Not saying it will look great but let's give it a chance.

Logo Sketch - Lucas D.
Lucas gives his sketch of a logo for a team that I do not have the description of. I'm assuming a hockey team. Not sure if it's an Arizona concept or just a generic logo attempt but I will review it! For working with hand and marker it looks like this isn't too bad. I think it's hard to show smaller details that normal logos have with a marker so you don't really have the details of depth in the area of the nose and eyes.I would say you should work on the teeth but hey, a logo with teeth all screwed and uneven might give a more vicious look to a logo. I would like to see this done on the computer just so it's digital.

New York Golden Blades Concept - Ryan H.
Our leader gives us his interpretation of the last competition we had. I'm a big fan of the logo. It's simple but very effective. The jerseys have the same effect as the logo. Simple, traditional, but very nice. Purple and gold color scheme works very well. One thing I'm really iffy on is the font used. It wouldn't be so bad if the jersey design was very modern, but it's not. I like the font design but maybe on a different jersey style. Traditional italic font or just a regular block one I think would make this look better. Maybe even with an outline too. That's my only real complaint here!

Rating: 8.3/10

2016 Winter Classic Concept - Taylor R.
Third Winter Classic concept that has the Bruins with a very similar jersey. Again this one is black with a brown bear in the center which I still don't think should be a thing. However, I do like the white name and numbers. Realistically it goes against everything I believe in but I really like how it looks. Make that a black bear and to me it's an awesome jersey. However, I know a lot of people would agree with the brown bruin for obvious and literal reasons. The Montreal one also is similar to what we've seen so far. I think this one is the most effective. From size of striping to the colors used and how they are used. Red pants is interesting but I'm not against it. To me this would be a great look for what should be a fun game to watch.

Rating: 8.8/10

That's it for me today! Please take the time to comment what you think of today's concept and vote for the logo competition! Hope you all survive this week!
