Monday: First Star Til' Slovakia
I was going for a Peter Pan reference in the title, but I think the stars in Slovakia are the same as here, except for that goalie from last year's WJHC...get it?...Welcome to the Monday Post.
Jersey News:
No, I'm not talking about that Saskatoon Blades Star Wars jersey because a) if I talk about this one, I'll have to talk about every theme night jersey and b) Buzzfeed made an article about it so the jersey is tainted and we must burn them all (Joking, don't worry)
We're still waiting on the AHL Outdoor Classic logo & jersey
Still waiting on the other 3 (yes, there has been a supposed leaked Minnesota jersey, but I'd like to wait for the official reveal) Stadium Series jerseys
Still waiting for word on the All- Star jerseys
Already did the Winter Classic jerseys....hmmmm
I'll issue...another challenge this week!!! I saw someone took my challenge, in some regard. Taylor R. made a concept similar to what the Griffins wore in the IHL, minus the wings. I can't blame him for not, and this would have made SUCH a better red alternate compared to what we actually got
This week's challenge is not related to the Griffins Comp. Let's go to the ECHL graveyard, one that frankly is overflowing with ideas. Brooks F. , Bastian S. and other artists have made concepts about former teams, but there are so many it'd be difficult to do them all. That being said lots of artists doing teams would be interesting.
These are Jets96's list of teams that you should make concepts for!!
1. Richmond Renegades
2. Roanoke Express
3. Baton Rouge Kingfish
4. Lexington Man O War
5. New Orleans Brass
6. Raleigh Ice Caps
7. Victoria Salmon Kings
8. Huntington Blizzards
9. Pee Dee Pride
10. Texas Wildcatters
See what you can do with these teams! There's lots of creative possibilities available, so have at it! I look forward to seeing the results.
Don't forget to vote for COTW. Does Ryan C get his 4th COTW win of the year and a 2nd shot a COTY bid, or does Brooks F get his 2nd in a row and 3rd COTW of the year. Two of HJCs best head to head...you decide!
Also keeping working on those Griffins entries, you have 1 week left, so I wanna see some great pushes, as I know we may have yet to see the winner
On to today's 5 concepts!
+ Anything with the Leafs centennial logo gets a plus
+ A striping pattern that matches what the Leafs would usually wear, while also being new to the Leafs
+ I like the way the yokes are played out, and white yoke on blue jersey looks solid
- Executions really hurts this concept, the helmet logos are too large, the primary logos are too large, sock striping is too thin, tv numbers are too thin
- The striping on the arms vary in thickness
- Remember to stop the stitching at the hem
Rating: 5.75/10
Philadelphia Flyers Concept (By: Ryan C.)
+ I really like this striping pattern, the colours are nicely laid out and I really wonder why the Flyers haven't done another black jersey
+ Great execution, though with such a plain jersey it's hard to mess that up. Credit where credit is due.
+ Not much to say, I really like it, just like the Flyers 3rd jersey
- This would be a perfect chance to use the keystone Captain's logo and the Liberty Bell shoulder patch to spice things up
Rating: 9/10
Boston Bruins Concept (By: Lucas D.)
+ Lucas's execution continues to improve
+ While I might not be the biggest fan of the Bruins going brown, it is one of the better brown concepts I've seen
+ I really like the monochrome Bruins logo, the Bruins should have gone with that logo in black & grey
- NOB is too large, and while I get that might be on purpose, it would look better in regular size font
- Hem stripe is too low
- Shoulder patch is too small
Rating: 7.75/10
Minnesota North Stars Concept (By: Jack S.)
+ I don't think I've ever reviewed a concept from Jack and the name doesn't seem familiar so, welcome to HJC, glad to have ya
+ The way the colours are laid out on the hem is perfect
- The jersey needs an unified theme, the hem and upper jersey don't connect at all. Neither do the numbers, NOB connect to the logo
- The NOB is too small and the numbers are too large, I think they came from a perviously made jersey. HJC has plenty of numbers for you to choose from
- Don't forget the tv numbers and to take the tm off the logo
Rating: 4.5/10- keep practicing making concepts and you'll be getting higher ratings in no time

MHC Mountfield Martin Concepts (By: Taylor R.)
*Funny enough, because of a colour mistake and a bad autocorrect typo, Taylor thought I was drunk writing last weeks post. I'll put down the Keith's for this concept, don't worry ;)!
+ Since gradient is part of the logo, it makes sense that it'd be part of the striping & numbers, but this one of the best examples of doing gradient right
+ Execution is perfect
+ As with most of Taylor's European concepts, the striping is simple, but I get a classic feel from these jerseys, especially looking at the yoke on the white jersey
+1'000'000% better than what the team currently wears
- I'm not usually a fan of red jersey/red pants, and while I doubt the player would look like a skating blood clot, I would have gone with blue pants
Rating: 9.5/10 COTW Nom from me!

I'm actually doing all of the ECHL defunct teams on sportslogos.net right now
I was initially gonna go with blue pants but I didn't want to make the away set too blue.
@Brooks: Send the ones in that you haven't sent in yet. The ones I've seen look good. Also put a link so we can follow.
@Taylor- I can see where you're coming from. It's one of those cases where two pants would be best but it's not practical
Ryan C's black Flyers alt for COTW.
I'll second Ryan for COTW.
