Thursday: Busy Week

Hello everyone, welcome back!

I apologize for the short intro, but I've had a pretty busy week. I'll try to have a decent "article" for next week, which has actually been in the back of my mind for a while now.

Also, I'd like to quickly welcome Chase to the writing team, if you missed it his first post was Tuesday. Good work so far, and keep it up, you'll enjoy it.

What can you do with the extra time that you have from a short intro? Vote, that's what! The COTW vote and also the COTW August vote. We also have the WCoH competition in its third stage, so go make some entires for that and submit them!

Center Ice Design - Las Vegas Travelers

+I like the color scheme

-I think the green would benefit from being a bit closer to neon green.

+Unique name choice, a bit of a refresher from the usual choices.

+Nice, simple design.

-I commend you for designing your own logo, but I'm not sure I understand how a hurricane warning symbol mixed with a UFO fits for "Travelers."

-I like the idea of the secondary, but the LV's typeface doesn't fit very well

-The aspect ratio of the logo gives it an odd look on the front of the jersey.

-Assuming this is for the NHL, a white helmet should be used with the white jersey. That's customary, and it looks best anyways.

-Sock stripes are way too high.

-No need for two different pants patterns, just stick with one of them.

Overall: 6.5/10

David C. - Baie-Comeau Drakkar

-ADD ID TO THE IMAGE. You don't want your work stolen, so better safe than sorry.

+Design wise, I could believe seeing this design actually being released.

+The consistency on this concept is great, the arms, hem, and shoulders all match. The number colors also match the logo, another nice touch.

+Not a huge fan of the script logo but I still think it's much better than their actual logo for the front of a jersey, so good choice.

-The C patch looks a bit small.

Overall: 7.5/10

Jimmy T. - Pittsburgh Penguins

+The first thing I notice is the amount of yellow on the road jersey. The Pens look best with a lot of yellow on the road jersey like such.

-I think you need some more black on it though. Maybe take the same route the Pens are on and leave the arms the same as the home jersey.

+Great consistency. Much better than the consistency of the current jerseys.

+I like the font choice.

-Those helmet numbers are way too big, and situated on the top of the helmet the way you have them.

Overall: 8/10

Jimmy T. - Tampa Bay Lightning

+Out of the attempts for this style I've seen, this is one of the better ones.

+The simplistic style is beneficial to keeping this from getting too busy.

+Good font choice.

-I think the numbers would look better if they were single color, though.

-Similar to Columbus, this design is way too plain. I'd fill in the yoke with the opposite color of the jersey, and make the bolt outline in either silver or black.

Overall: 8/10

Lucas D. - Los Angeles Kings

+Great color scheme choice, so much more vibrant than their current jerseys.

+That logo actually looks really good in purple too.

+That number font looks really good here too.

+The stripes, and all the purple for that matter, really pops.

-There could be some blending issues with the white on yellow, but I don't think it's a big issue, if one at all.

Overall: 9.5/10 and my COTW nomination 

Lucas D. - Tampa Bay Lightning

+I like the black as the primary color

+The addition of silver and black is a good move.

+I like the logo and font choice.

+I don't think I've seen lightning bolts used like this before, I like seeing new ideas.

-I don't think you executed it too well though, the bolts look very rough, especially the outlines. They'd look better if they were sharp instead of curved as well.

+But, fix that, and this idea has a lot of potential.

Overall: 7.5/10
