Monday: Week of August 13-19, 2012
The winner of the Florida Panthers 3rd Jersey Competition is Caz! I believe this is Caz's first competition win, so congrats. Below are the top 5 entries. Tomorrow I will post the full standings.
You can have your last look at the gallery of entries here.
The new competition has been announced! It's the Dallas Stars re-brand competition. The idea for this competition started last week when Brandon C sent in a Stars concept using new colours. Go to the STARS COMP page for all of the rules and details.
The COTW nominees have been listed for the week of August 6-12. You can see the concepts by clicking the banner on the side of the page or you can go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Committee Members, you have until the end of Thursday to get your vote in.
Tyler emailed me and was wondering if anyone would be willing to make a Paint compatible template of the Lightning's pants, both regular and alternate.
Tyler was looking for Tampa's pants using Matt M's template that can be found on the TEMPLATES page. Just email them into HJC and I will share them here.
Washington Capitals concepts (by MasonII)
I like the jerseys that Mason has come up with here, but I don't know if a wordmark is strong enough to be a logo on them. This may be one of the few instances where I would endorse using the "weagle" logo as the primary logo. 7/10
Hershey Bears concepts (by Cody)
Cody has made jerseys similar to the alternate from the 09-10 season. The execution is okay, the wordmarks are a bit pixelated. Other than that these are fairly ho-hum. Not terribly interesting, but not terrible either. 6/10
New York Rangers concept (by Trey)
Trey has added red yokes to the Rangers' home jersey, placed TV numbers on the chest, and added the logo as a shoulder patch. The last item may be the only popular choice amongst Rangers fans. This jersey is similar the the concept before it as there's nothing terrible about it, but also nothing interesting. 6/10
Staten Islanders concept (by Tristan)
Tristan has moved the Islanders to Staten Island and has also brought back the original Edge sweaters. Some changed include numbers that look like the New Jersey Devils' numbers and the lack of collar laces. Everything here seems okay, except for the numbers. The player numbers look a bit too small and the TV numbers look too big. 6/10
New York City Fire concepts (by Chuckie)
I like that Chuckie drew his own primary logo, but using a skull makes it seem like the logo has been killed by said fire, in my opinion. I like the home and road sweaters except for the vertical piping. On the alternate, I'd like to see some yellow trim on the stripes because it's also used on the collar. 7/10
Calgary Flames concept (by Matt C.)
This one is a pretty fun idea and as soon as Matt sent it to me I know what he based it on. Those bad trainer's sweaters are what sticks out to me most from the 1989 Cup champions Flames picture. In my opinion, Matt could have gone without the yokes and used the red logo as a shoulder patch. 7/10
Anaheim Ducks concept (by Jeremy T.)
This has been done several different ways several times before. I'd like to see some grey in the stripes on this one. I also think that the NOB is too thin and would be very hard to see. 6/10
Toronto Maple Leafs concept (by NB14)
I get trying to match the numbers and NOB to the font used in the logo. However, speaking as a Leafs fan, these aren't bad I just don't want to see them on my team. Execution wise the primary logo looks a little small. 7/10
Peoria Rivermen concept (by Nevill)
I was about to remark at how good the execution here is, then I saw the Reebok logos on the back. They're the only thing holding this back from perfect execution. I like the jersey, especially the bigger yokes that come to a point. I don't know if the collar laces are needed, they feel like laces for the sake of laces. 8/10
Florida Panthers concept (by MasonII)
This is clearly based on the original red jersey, but by adding and rearranging some stripes Mason has made a new and classic looking jersey. That's the best thing about this concept, it looks like the old jersey, but it's something new. Mason has used a style of stripes that has worked time and time again. 8/10
Florida Panthers concepts (by Brian B.)
Brian has done something similar to the previous concept with his Panthers set here. It again feels like laces for laces sake to me though. Also, am I one of the few people who liked the FLA shoulder patch? Or did it just get a bad rep because of the jersey it was on? 8/10
Caz - 22
Dylan #1 - 19
Thallos #1 - 15
Alan #1 - 15
Ryan(HJC) - 15

Congrats to Caz on the win! I'm surprised my jersey had so many votes. I saw so many good entries I though I was doomed.
Side note, I love the Flames "Sweater". I agree the red yoke could be dropped but it's a fun concept. It'd be a funny practice jersey
Thanks to everyone who voted for me! It feels great to get my first competition win! There were a ton of great entries this time. I was very surprised to get that many votes.
