Jake88's concept now moves into the COTY-June vote. That begins right now and Jake is joining the likes of Steven G, TG, and David K. These artists' concepts are listed on the side of the page in the red banner. Click that banner to see the concepts entered or go to the COTY 2014 tab. Votes are due when the clock reads 11:59pm Eastern time.

And of course we have the COTW nominees listed in the black banner on the side of the page. Click that banner to see the concepts nominated or you can go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Just like every week, the votes are due by the end of Friday.

By this time next week the HJC Open will have begun taking Round 1 submissions. You can click the banner at the top of the page or go to the HJC OPEN tab to get most of the details. Full and official rules will be posted on July 12 when the competition begins.

If you have hopes of winning the tournament you'll need to be the best you've ever been. You'll need to be in the top 8 in Round 1, and then you'll need to defeat 3 other HJC artists in the next 3 rounds of head-to-head votes. That's four of the best-ever concepts you've created.

-------------------------------------------------

I was cleaning out my closet the other day and came across 3 successive years of Leafs Draft Hats.
The three on the left are from 2008, with the one on the very left being an alternate version. To the right of those hats is the 2009 Draft Hat, which has become my favourite. And on the very right is the 2010 version, which was my favourite.

As they were released from 2008-2010, it was originally the 2010 edition that was my fav. It was followed by the 2008 version and then the 2009 hat. Over time my tastes seemed to have changed and now I really like the white 2009 hat best.

Which ones did you or do you still like?

-------------------------------------------------

Lets talk about socks! Ok, maybe not the most exciting topic, but I would like to clarify a few things regarding socks.

There are technically two types of Reebok Edge socks.

The authentic/game-used variety...
and the cheaper variety for the general public (standard Reebok Hockey practices)...

All pro teams wear the authentic variety of socks and beer league and house league teams wear the ones with the Velcro tabs at the top. Obviously everyone is free to use whatever template they wish, but if you're aiming to be as authentic as possible I would suggest using the sock template that has the tag stitched into the top of the sock.

Here's something else that people like to do with their socks that has never been done with Reebok socks...ever.
The Reebok logo (vector or wordmark) never appeared at the top of the socks. It only appears just below the knee and mostly on the cheaper variety of Edge socks (with the tabs). The logo is on the authentic socks, but not for NHL or AHL teams.

That's just a little bit of info that may help you improve your concepts as we head into the 2014 HJC Open.

Love those 09 draft hats. I liked the 08 ones too, but mine did the same thing two of yours are doing, the front of the cap gets all bent in and looks bad.

Oops. Haha I blame the template on that one!

The 2010 hats were my favorite! I have a whole bunch of teams in that style, including the Whalers.
