Saturday: Happy 5th Anniversary HJC!
Today is the official 5th Anniversary of HJC!
To mark the occasion, Dylan A., Caden P., Jets96 (Sean), and myself put together this Podcast answering your questions. Caz was scheduled to join us as well, but technical difficulties prevented that. Let us know what you thought of the podcast. The more comments you guys leave, the more material we have for the next podcast.
Take a step back in time and check out the very first HJC post HERE. Wow, we've come a long way.
The winner of the COTW for November 10-16 was Jamie R! Congrats Jamie on your first COTW win.
The winner of the CHL ReDesign competition was Matt M!
Matt's prize for winning the competition is a trip straight into this week's COTW nominees. If you're wondering why it's such a small pool of nominees, don't forget that this week was one day shorter than any other week.
Nominees are listed on the side of the page. You can see the concepts by clicking on that banner or by going to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Votes are due by Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern time. Join the COTW Mailing List to be emailed the weekly nominees. All you have to do is reply to the email to vote! Send your join request to concepts@HockeyJerseyConcepts.com.
Lets keep rolling on with the competitions. This week's competition is a CWHL ReDesign!
Pick one of the five teams in the league and come up with new sweaters. All of the teams in the league use an arched script with the player number, so a new look is needed for all. Entries are due on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern.
Don't forget to send your entry to the competition email. NOT the regular email.

Can't put into words how much I loved the podcast. This may be pushing it, but I would LOVE to see a new podcast every week. Not like an hour long podcast, but more like 20-30 minutes and just try and get as many of the writers on as possible. I don't know about anyone else, but after listening to this podcast I've thought about so many other questions I'd like to ask like, "If you were to change one untouchable jersey, what would you change?" (weird question, but just one of the many I have).
Concerning the "Leave an Idea" page, I've looked through it a couple of times a while back, but never for an idea. Let's just say I wouldn't mind if it were gone.
BTW thanks for the mention with one of the most improved, even if I wasn't your first choice.
And thanks/congrats to Ryan for 5 years of HJC! Hope for another 5!
You guys should do a video game competition!
great podcast, definitely going to join in on the next one.
congrats to Matt for winning the comp. and breaking my streak!
Happy 5th anniversary! The podcast was awesome, hopefully there is another one a lot sooner than the 10th anniversary.
To answer your question about the "Leave an Idea" page, I think you should get rid of it. I thought it was a bit gimmicky from the start, and now it doesn't seem to get any use, so I'd like to see it axed.
Great podcast, guys! I would love to see more podcasts in the future. Maybe not every week, but I think even if it's just once a month, that would be great.
Still have no idea what the technical issues were, other than possibly my internet connection. Rural Missouri internet isn't the best.
Here are a few responses I had prepared for the questions:
1. Favorite concept - I don't know why, but Ryan did a white Nashville alternate years ago, and it's stuck with me, but I can't say I have an absolute favorite.
2. Most improved artist - I know Christian asked the question, but I would say Jake88 and S2udio. His concepts have been really on point the last few months.
3. Favorite blog moment - When Ryan had his first kid, the future of HJC looked like it was in doubt, but the HJC community came together to help Ryan keep it going.
4. Favorite Competition - The "Untouchables" competitions from a few years ago were great. Loved seeing Original Six teams get messed with.
5. Favorite past writer - Colin May. His writing and assessments were very solid and honest.
6. What makes a good jersey? Color balance. It has to be memorable and catch your eye. Must be creative, and fit the team's unique identity (or create a unique identity if there isn't one)
Also, about jersey customization in video games, that's one area that's been really neglected in recent years. I stopped buying Madden NFL games when they stopped including that feature. They really need to update that in EA's NHL series.
I was in the snow storm too :( . . .
Congrats to you on your fifth, Ryan & thanks to my former co-writers and all the other writers for chipping in. :D
