Monday: It's That Time of the Week Again
Hello and welcome, once again, to Monday!
Well, that's it folks! I finally graduated high school meaning that now I have all the time in the world to dedicate to this website and graphic design as a whole. Last week was kind of a mixup, which I completely apologize for. I'm still learning how to use Blogger, so hopefully soon I'll be able to get my grip on this. As you probably know, concepts have been down recently, and I am partly to blame because of it. I have five concepts only a few steps away from being finished sitting on my computer.
Everyone here needs to contribute for this site to run. This site is for you, the fans! If you don't know how to create concepts, take a few minutes out of your day to fill out the survey Ryan has posted. And, as always, we have voting going on for both the IceCaps contest as well as the usual COTW! We've got a Penguins UnderArmour jersey, an old but modern Colorado set, a little somethin somethin from Italy, and an OHL jersey that looks better than some NHL teams!
There isn't much in the way of jersey news. Now that we're moving into the offseason, hopefully we'll see a lot of NHL teams rebranding themselves. I'd even be happy with some AHL teams. Hell, even OHL would be cool.
I'm guessing someone must have been a little late to our last competition.
Pros: I love gray. In any concept with color, it just looks so cool. I can't really see anything you're missing in this concept, all the essentials are here. The blue pants are a great choice, and the hem stripe and arm sleeves are a great idea.
Cons: I'm not a huge fan of the square yoke unless it's done a la the Ranger's away jersey. The TV numbers look a little small and don't pop as much as they should. It seems like there's too much empty space on the bottom of the jersey, maybe if the striping was brought down a bit. I feel as the biggest issue with this jersey is that the numbers on the back don't have enough breathing room, but the TV numbers have too much.
This is a modern concept that doesn't take too many bold choices. 7/10
Ontario Reign - Dylan G.
Next up is an AHL concept for the Ontario Reign, and this seems to look way too much like an old LA Kings jersey.
Pros: I've said it before, but gold and purple are beautiful together. The Ontario Reign logo also looks fantastic in these colors. The arm and hem stripes with subtle silver look great.
Cons: First big issue, sign your work! Even cavemen were found to have signed their work. Do you want to be less than a caveman? The ghost yoke does not work here. Something like that should fit with more creative stripes. It just looks really tacked on here. The logo doesn't pop the way it should, maybe make the main color silver. The shoulder patches also don't work, and you forgot one of them on the back jersey.
This jersey just seems really incomplete to me, like there should be something else. 4/10
New York Rangers - Jamie R.
A vintage look that seems a lot like something we've seen before.
Pros: This seems like the jersey New York should be wearing for their home set. The cream, laces, slightly slanted text, the beautiful striping. If New York doesn't want to make another change like they did in the seventies, at least make this an alternate. I could even see this as a Winter Classic jersey.
Cons: The only issue I have with this concept is the double stripes on the arm. I feel like one would suffice.
This set has everything I love in a jersey. It's close to perfect. 9.5/10 and a COTW Nomination
West Bromwich Albion - Phil B.
Here's another soccer jersey turned hockey sweater by Phil.
Pros: This is a situation where a ghost yoke looks good. The choices of fonts seem really well thought out and the double stroked letters look really good, especially on the white. I have to say, the choice to not include all the colors from the logo is a good one.
Cons: I'm not a huge fan of all the thin stripes. It really isn't copying Albion's style and it doesn't look good on a sweater. Maybe a baseball pinstripe style jersey that's close to Albion's look would be cool here. Also, the pants don't seem to match too well to the pants that exist.
I don't really know how I feel about this concept, to be completely honest. It's fine, but it's not much more. 6.5/10
West Ham United - Phil B.
Phil's second concept of the day, also for a football club. I don't know why, but every time I hear "West Ham," all I can think about is Monty Python and Communism.
Pros: Wow. The color scheme is really something else here. This makes the Mighty Ducks look tame. I love it, don't get me wrong. The V striping is always a plus, and your execution on this jersey is great.
Cons: I feel like you added so much to the jersey, you forgot to add something to the pants. Also the yoke does not look like it fits on the sweater whatsoever.
This just needs some touching up, but it could be a COTW in time. 7/10
That's it for today, folks! Remember, always vote for your favorite concept, check out the survey, and leave your responses to your questions in the comments!

What teams would you like to see get rebranded this summer? Leave what you think down in the comments below.
Also, since this space is so empty, I feel like I should include something to fill the void, just to have a little "life lesson" section to help you when you need some inspiration. Now that I'm on my one-month of writing for the site, I want to diverge from my fellow writers and do something you can only get on your Monday post from good ol' Jack "The Goose" Godlewski.
So, another thing you should add when you put out your votes for COTW today, what else do you want from the Monday post? I want to do some "slice of life," but only if you want it.
I guess for now I can talk about the playoffs. The Ducks and Hawks seem to be forming a rivalry all thanks to a few childish plays by Corey Perry, so much that Twitter was full of Corey Perry jokes this Saturday. This is bad for me. Incredibly bad. Now I a shamed for wearing my Ducks jersey in public, whereas before no one even paid attention to it. Ah well.

Now, for what most of you came for.

I don't mind the arm stripes on Jamie's NYR concept, but the shoulder patches are unnecessary. They make the shoulders look cluttered.
West Ham for cotw.
I'll second Jamie's Rangers jersey for COTW
I'll third Jamie's Rangers jersey, I also think the double arm stripes look really good too. Makes it look a bit more unique/vintage.
David as much as I appreciate the nomination, you need a google account in order to properly nominate.
Side note for my WBA concept, pinstripes NEVER look good on a jersey. Trust me. I've tried.
