Wednesday: Montreal's Teasing Us!!!

Howdy HJC! Hope you all had a fun Spookyween and an even better past few days recovering from it.....

So the Montreal Canadiens have started teasing their Winter Classic jersey in a series of tweets.

It would appear that the Habs will use the same crewneck style collar that the Bruins are using for the game which is great! As for the rest of the jersey, it appears we may get a white version of the club's original jersey. All the tweets mention this Friday's date, so it appears we'll have to wait a few days for the actual reveal.

All that is cool and all but all I care about is the Stadium Series jerseys at this point. We've seen Colorado's and it's whatever... The Wild jersey may have leaked yesterday so now we're only waiting on Chicago and Detroit. I was really hoping the sash design that was originally reported to be on Detroit's jersey would find its way onto the others but it doesn't appear that will happen.

I really want to get the Blackhawks Stadium Series jersey this year, because it seems like it will be better than the last Stadium Series jersey. I got last year's Winter Classic jersey because of course it was going to look good... But two years ago, I got all excited the Hawks would be in the Stadium Series, because it meant new jersey for me... then I saw it and got disappointed... don't do it to me again Blackhawks....

2017 Winter Classic Concept - Toronto vs. Montreal - Lucas D.

Lucas wants to see another blue vs. red matchup in the Winter Classic. Now right off the bat I'm going to shoot this down. Montreal wouldn't get two Winter Classics in a row. It's not unheard of to get 2 or even 3 outdoor games, like the Hawks, but the Hawks have alternated between hosting a Stadium game, then a road game Winter Classic, then a road game Stadium Series. The matchup is unlikely, and I feel the Toronto, if in another game would get hosting duties and want to wear white, to differentiate it from their previous outdoor jersey.

The matchup shouldn't have anything to Now the designs both feel gimmicky which gives it a Stadium Series feel. The Maple Leafs have sublimated Leaves (LEAFS?!?) in their striping which seems like such a Stadium Series move, and the Canadiens have never had a sash. So basically, these are like Winter Classic/Stadium Series mashups and I'm not really a huge fan of either of them.

Mace Windu Jedi Alternate Jersey Concept - Star Wars Series - Ryan G.

I think I've said it here before, and I will say it again... fully expecting to get some sort of backlash.... I don't care about Star Wars. I've seen the old movies and I've just never cared that much. That being said I'm a little interested by the new movie coming out later this year especially because of all the hype it's getting. Now, it should go without saying that since I don't care, I don't know a ton about the series. So any and all references in this concept will go unnoticed and unappreciated.

Design wise, it's pretty bold...There's such a contrast between the colors that the yellow is popping out so hard. I don't hate it, I don't know if the colors have anything to do with Mace Windu. Google tells me he has a purple lightsaber so there's that. The bright colors kind of match the modern design, so I'm not toootally against the piping, although I still prefer no piping. The striping also seems a little thin for my taste, but maybe that's ok with such a bright yellow.

Toronto Blue Jays Hockey Jersey Concept - Ethan B.

Baseball is now officially done. My Cubs didn't win it but they made it way further than anyone expected them to. The Cubs best season in years really brought the fans and city together after some really long and excruciating rebuilding years, and another team that did that was this team. The Toronto Blue Jays. I like the Blue Jays, and their rebrand a few years back was and still is amazing. I love the logo a lot. Ethan pops it on a hockey jersey, something that I feel the Toronto fan base would be all over.

Now, the design kind of comes out of nowhere it seems. I would think a Blue Jays jersey that uses their jersey striping would look really good. I don't know where this striping pattern came from. It doesn't look bad but it doesn't look right though because I'm expecting something different. Also, The jerseys use a lot of navy blue when the Blue Jays don't use that at all. There should be a lot more royal blue.

Also, why is the image so big, but the actual concepts and your ID take up so little of the space? Use all the space you can, man.

Calgary Flames Concept - Brooks F.

I've always thought that the Flames should stick to bright colors. Red/Orange/White. No need for black. This set however doesn't look that bad. I really like the white jersey, but I feel like the dark jersey just doesn't have the same color balance that I really like from the white jersey. Everything else is pretty solid though.
