Saturday: The Logo Is The Easy Part
The winner of the COTW-May vote was Matt M!
This is Matt's 3rd monthly win already! He won January's monthly vote and he won April's with Dylan A. I also noticed that 4 of the 5 monthly winners have come from the competition winners. This trend continues to put more emphasis on doing well in those comps.
The winner of the COTW vote for June 3-9 was Josiah B!
Well done Josiah. That was his fourth COTW win of 2016 so far (COTW x2 - COTW-Monthly x1 - Quarter Vote x1). Why is that important? Because that's the primary method of seeding in the HJC Open. By July 1st we will have our 16 entrants into the bracket portion of the 2016 HJC Open and how you are seeded depends on your COTW wins primarily. Your seed will also affect who you face-off against as you go through the brackets. Speaking of the HJC Open...
The Logo Is The Easy Part, is the title of this post. Determining the logo for the HJC Open will be the easiest part of this competition. Brendan P's (Thursday writer) design has been voted as the official logo of the 2016 HJC Open.
Brendan will be asked to create a Champion's version of his logo that will appear on the Championship banner that the winner receives. As far as I'm concerned the HJC Open is the 2nd biggest event of the year here (Concept of the Year is 1st). I came up with the HJC Open in 2011 as a way to burn a month during the slow off-season. It certainly does that, but what I really enjoy is the amazing match-ups we get. I really like seeing two super talented artists forced to out-do each other with a concept.
As I said last week, you should begin to get your HJC Open entries in order. We will begin accepting entries on the night of June 24. You need to be prepared with additional entries because the entry phase and the voting phase all happen within one week. The entry phase runs from Friday nights to Tuesdays at noon and the voting phase runs from Tuesday nights to Fridays at noon. All times Eastern.
As a neat addition this year, concepts in the Final will all have to sport the HJC Open logo on the jersey.
The COTW nominees for June 10-16 have been listed on the side of the page. Eight concepts were nominated and seconded, but only two were thirded. As per the COTW rules I narrowed the nominees down to those two concepts and as such we have a head to head vote this week for the COTW! The poll will appear for those logged into their Google accounts. Voting ends on Friday at noon Eastern.
