Thursday: Q&A Part II
Hello everyone, welcome back!
I didn't get many more questions for today, but I still got a few, so let's answer them.
From the comments last week:
I didn't get many more questions for today, but I still got a few, so let's answer them.
From the comments last week:
Matthews was born in the San Francisco Bay Area to Brian, from California, and Ema, originally from Mexico. Matthews and his family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona when Matthews was an infant. He learned to play hockey in Arizona, developing an interest after watching the local Phoenix Coyotes play. Widely considered the top prospect of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Matthews was drafted first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

(I don't know how else to answer that...I'm sorry if I disappointed you.)

We also have one question that a friend of mine asked me to answer here:
"What was the first jersey you ever owned?"
Man, this is a tough one.
I can think of a few that I had early on, but I'm not sure I can pinpoint the actual first jersey I owned.
When I was young, like a baby, my parents had a white robo penguin baby sized jersey for me, that could possibly be my first.
From my current collection, I believe the earliest jersey is an eggplant Mighty Ducks jersey. I remember writing in the stripes for some reason, no idea why (I was really young, maybe just a few years old, give me a break.)
I also remember getting both a black and white version of the Pens' original vegas gold jerseys as a gift, those may be the first jerseys in my collection that weren't "hand me downs" from my dad.

Alright and that's all! This went less successful than I had expected when it comes to how many questions I got, so thank you to those of you who asked questions, I hope you enjoyed my answers.

There's a larger amount of votes this week than usual, with the Hurricanes comp vote, the COTW September, and the COTW. It's still a quick vote, just stop by and click a few boxes real quick.
3rd Quarter Vote (ends Friday @ noon Eastern)
COTW Oct 7-13 vote (ends Friday @ noon Eastern)
Hurricanes Top 5 vote (ends Friday @ noon Eastern)

Cole W. - Saskatoon Blues
Cole continues his fictional history of the Saskatoon Blues series here, for those who have missed it just check the last few HJC posts to catch up.
+I've loved this whole series because it's very realistic based on how some teams have gone in real life, notably the Blues.
-If I have an issue there, I'd argue this series has been a little too close to them.
+-I also have the same critiques as yesterday in regard to the logo.
+The jersey design is much better and more traditional than the edge redesign, following many real examples.
-The stripes are a bit thin, though.
-Again, name and number is a bit small, and I'd drop the front number.
+I like that shoulder patch.
Overall: 8/10
Lucas D. - Pittsburgh Penguins
+I really like this series of yours, and it's executed very well.
+If I didn't know anything about hockey I could be convinced this was actually a vintage jersey.
+Great logo choice, the dated look is perfect here.
+The simple design looks amazing, and using the Pens current an historical upper arm design is just perfect.
-My only complaint: the numbers look a little off center.
Overall: 9.5/10 and my COTW nomination, If this became a fan product, I'd definitely buy it, honestly.
Taylor R. - Swift Current Broncos
+This is a beautiful color scheme when used correctly. The colors here look great.
+Nice combination of historical design with innovation.
-I think you should complete the yoke on the back, and work around the CCM logo.
-A blue name would be better on the white jersey.
-The white jersey could use more green.
+Love the font choice.
Overall: 9/10
Zeke G. - Carolina Hurricanes
+Carolina cook definitely use some new jerseys, this is a nice step in the right direction while keeping the current look in mind.
+I like the striping pattern and color balance.
-But the inner stripes are inconsistent; the red middle stripe is off center. There's more white between the bottom black stripe and the red stripe than there is on the top.
+I like the shoulder numbers, I think they fit really well here.
+Good font choice.
-I'd like to see the equipment.
Overall: 7.75/10

That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed the post, thanks for reading, and I'll see you all next week!

You put my name on Zekes concept
Last concept is mine (the 'Canes one)
I'll second Lucas D's Pens Original 7 concept for COTW
Whoops..sorry Zeke. Guess you guys have similar styles...and I somehow missed the I.D. Honest mistake I suppose, I apologize. It's fixed now.
