Last Day for COTW Votes
Today is the last day for Committee members to email in their COTW vote. Voting ends at 11:59pm EST.
The voting system is going to change for our ReDesigns! Here's good news, you will now be able to vote for your own concepts, if you choose to! You will now also be required to submit a top 3 (including voting for your own concept if you choose)! The winner would then be determined by total points. So, 1st place votes would get 3 points, 2nd place would get 2 points and 3rd place would get 1. I will update the VOTING COMMITTEE page later. I will also go over the new voting method on Monday, when voting begins for the Ice Caps ReDesign. What does everyone think?
Speaking of the Ice Caps, they revealed their jerseys today.
As I predicted, they released them right in the middle of our competition. It's okay, the competition carries on anyways. The jerseys are the same as the Jets' jerseys, except in the AHL the home team wears white. I'm glad no one actually submitted these jerseys for the contest.

There won't be a post tomorrow because I will be attending the Leafs' pre-season game against the Sabres. On the bright side, it looks like the Leafs have thrown together a 4pm EST press conference to "reveal" their new 3rd jersey. I will be in attendance and will try to Tweet some photos. Hopefully I can get my hands on a freebie (no money to get the jersey yet). If there is a post it will be very late at night, but that's an IF.

For the most part I like this as a 3rd jersey for the 'Canes. If it were to be perfect, in my books, I would get rid of the shoulder yoke outline. I'd also use the black and grey shoulder patch and remove the collar laces. Finally, I'd have the sock design match the sweater design. Overall, I still like this though.

Cody has used Kyle S.' Jets concept logo on his concept jerseys. As you can see, the jerseys are made from the 2011 All-Star Game jerseys. That template has been quite popular lately with HJC concept artists.

If the Jets ever felt like they needed to promote the red in their colour scheme this concept shows that it could actually look pretty good. When I see this concept, it makes me think I'd prefer this as a 3rd jersey to a retro look. TV numbers, shoulder patches, yada yada yada...
Vancouver Canucks concept (by Felix)
This is a 3rd jersey follow up to a Canucks concept of Felix's that was posted on Monday. I don't mind the big V and I like Johnny skating through it too. I think the script in the hem stripe looks a little goofy.

This is a really great possible 3rd jersey for the Lightning next season. I wonder if the Lightning will introduce a 3rd jersey next season? Anyways, the only detail I'd change it to have the team name in blue instead of black inside the main crest. Either way, great job!
Florida Panthers concepts (by Kris)
I REALLY like the home and road jerseys! They look a little similar to the Panthers' original jerseys, but they're different enough to be looked at as new. I'd personally prefer if the Panthers wore these! The 3rd jersey I'm not a fan of because it's pretty much the Moncton Wildcats' jersey.

2012 Winter Classic logo!!!
Just like I reported last Friday, the NHL will hold a press conference at Citizens Bank Park on Monday. It is there that the above logo will be unveiled as will the Rangers and Flyers jerseys.

my manager said that the flyers jerseys will be orange, black and vintage white but he wouldn't tell me the exact design, he said it's a retro-progressive design

I furious with the NHL! The Winter Classic has only been around for 5 years and this is the 4th year that there has been a repeat team, bot to mention the 4th time a team from Pennsylvania has played. The Colorado Avalanche deserve to play in a Winter Classic! I say the Avs play the Minnesota Wild in Minnesota on New Years Day 2013. Minnesota is the the hockey hot spot in the U.S. and that's the main purpose for the Winter Classic, to promote hockey in the United States. Minnesota has the perfect weather for this game and there would be a HUGE amount of fans attending. Who Agrees?!
@Anonymous: It's hard to disagree with you. That may not be an ideal match-up though as both those teams missed the playoffs last year. Sorry, but potential ratings are a BIG factor in who plays in the game. Still, a game in Minnesota would be awesome!
@Tex I work in the flyers team store at the wells Fargo center, I'm the first one of us to see the new merch and I'll send a pic when we get the jerseys in
Ryan, that aweful NY Rangers shield that you posted cannot be done as a design at all, because the main shape is terrible no matter what you can place inside. That is why NY Rangers went thru a lot of changes to chape up to have their current beautiful shield - same as the Leafs done to get to their 11 point geometrical current logo of the maple leaf. I'd say what's in the past leave it there and don't bother. I don't like their creamy jerseys for the upcoming WC against the Flyers and don't like how they've done a logo crest either. My 9/11 design looks a 100 times nicer and better versus theirs. Also, Flyers concept for WC looks bad with that baseball script across the chest.

1. That IS the logo the Rangers will be using as their mark for the Winter Classic. I did not create it. I merely tried to place a quick example on this site.
2. Regarding leaving things in the past. The whole idea of the Winter Classic is supposed to be the past, retro. So no team will ever leave anything in the past when they are involved in the Winter Classic.
3. Those "creamy" jerseys that you see on the internet are NOT what the Rangers will be wearing for the Winter Classic. Same goes for the Flyers jersey with the script across the front. Those jerseys, as has been discussed at length across the internet, are fake Chinese knock-offs.
4. I personally thought your 9/11 concept looked very cluttered. I even prefer the fakes Winter Classic jerseys to yours. Your concept would have worked in a European league, but the NHL likes to keep their team's jerseys clean and professional and not cluttered by designs. Usually if something is to be honoured/remembered, teams use a patch to do so.
I prefer my 9/11 concept over any " Rangers " concept that has been posted on this blog before - IT IS VERY UNIQUE, ORIGINAL AND THAT IS NY RANGERS CONCEPT AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! There is no cluttering in that concept what so ever - you're so wrong about that, Ryan. And I'm gonna stand firm by my comment on it- this is a straightforward blog and that is my straightforward reply, as an american citizen I have a right of freedom of speech ( this not USSR ). As die hard " Rangers " fan - I will not like to see them wearing that aweful shield that you posted, Ryan - that would be an absolute disgrace and a bad taste. Flyers should wear a big liberty bell on their jersey and something from a declaration of independence - that would be an awesome concept for a Winter Classic - not that silly " Quackers " stuff... Amen.

Tony, I've been watching Felix's concepts for a quiet some time now and I think that he is very talented, unique and innovative in his art work. So, your rude comments and attacks toward him are absolute rubbish and not fair by any mean of imagination. By the way, where are your concepts in here for me to see how " good " of an artist you are??? I think that you are full of crap and just a jealous type of a person with an ATTITUDE coming in this comments section to stir things up, like a punk. Felix you have great ideas and your concepts are good, but yourb duisrespect for everyone is just obnoxious. btw, foes anyone here watch baseball? theres a logo floating around for the blue jays.
if they want to draw a crowd how about the ducks and islanders? the isles can wear a custom version of the fishstcks logo and the ducks can wear a jade jersey.

Okay, Felix, If somebody didn't like your concept, so what. It shouldn't be such a big deal to you. No need to get in a huge war here. I liked the idea behind your 9-11 concept. MAybe if you took the design, and made it a shoulder patch, based off the Rangers logo.

@TEX you would think you love your job, but there are things about it that really do suck...ill give you a couple of examples..
1) my aunt worked there as a manager and basically got me the job, at the beginning of last year, due to the cup run the flyers had, they built an expansion to the main store aka "the bubble" half way through the year they lay her off because shes been there "too long" DUMB
2) two days ago the flyers played the maple leafs, that day, my new team store was supposed to open. WAY bigger, 2 floors and 75,000 square feet. problem is...they started to build it without permits....so now i work in the bubble still because there is only dirt where my new one should be.
3) i cant watch the game anymore because the bubble was completely redone and they NOT ONLY forgot to put in internet cable for the registers....but they didnt give us a TV to watch the game on...before it was redone....there were 10 tvs in the store...
4) there is no such thing as common sense in that building.
only bonus i have, ive met tons of players, talked to them, im now friends with the coaches son and i can chill outside of the flyers locker room because the head security guard is the nicest guy i know
To Tex - firstly, thank you for being a good sport. Secondly, I'm perfectly okay with people either like od dislike my concepts - it is fine with me. Normally, there will be mostly people ho either like or dislike art versus people who are in between. But what I cannot stand and will never stand is when somebody walks in here with a terrible attitude without any type of portfolio and start making personal remarks that has nothing to do with commenting on a concept(s). Yes, I agree with you that my 9/11 NY Rangers concept could be simply be a patch on their yoke on their white jeseys and as you can see by adding two towers into a red triangle on the current NY Rangers shield will make a simple design for that patch. Also, I can see a possibility of a ribbon with a text " Never Forgotten " below the shield, as well. All that I was trying to do on that concept is to see if by making their current shield to be a main focus on the jersey, to try something different but keeping it familiar without changing much. Anyhow, I will continue to create more concepts, upgrade more logos or create my own and Ryan will post them according to his schedule. Thank you, Tex.

I was at Citizens Bank Park yesterday when the logo was unveiled...and heard FROM ED SNIDER..that the logo the rangers chose is a tribute and in the theme of what hockey was like back in the Great Depression. I heard it STRAIGHT from the source, if you think its an terrible logo, dont watch the game or blame Ryan for posting what he saw. Maybe you know this, but im pretty sure you dont...the reason the Flyers dont use the Liberty Bell...is because it is property of the Phillies, what used to be Veterans Stadium, and now Citizens Bank Park. Each Philly team has their own brand...even those it will take you 5 minutes to walk across the parking lot to each every arena...the Quakers/Flyers jersey that you have seen IS NOT THE REAL DEAL. IM the one who told Ryan about that and since the logo is now known to the public I can now tell people without my job being in jeopardy.
Last thing....there is nothing WRONG with your concepts, maybe they dont catch my eye like they do to others, but when you rip through the art that those people have sent in out of THEIR free time, how do you not find that disrespectful? this isnt the site for that, keep it to yourself

There is a huge difference between us in many ways - so, keep it to yourself. I'm going to say this one more time and for the last time - that "Flyers" would look nice with a BIG liberty bell for a Winter Classic game. Liberty Bell is not a personal property of the " Phillys ". Kevin, I made my own decisions what to watch on tv - you're not in the position to tell me what to watch on tv. So, from this point on worry about yourself before worry about me - I'm sure that you have a lot of issues to work on it.
