Week of Dec 18-25
As the year winds down so does your chance at COTY. No guarantees, but today may be the last day to get a concept in if it's going to be posted in 2011. Again, no guarantees!
Also, on that note the COTW nominees for the week of Dec 12-18 have been determined. You can click on the banner on the left or go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page to see the entries. Committee Members can place their COTW vote up until Thursday @ 11:59pm EST.
A lot of concepts were nominated this week (11), but only 2 were properly seconded. If you're unfamiliar with COTW/COTY guidelines then click HERE.
The DHL Final wraps up tomorrow (Tuesday) @ 11:59pm EST. Committee Members can go to the DHL page or click the banner on the right to see the final entrants and cast their vote.
Here are the final two entries into the Battle of the Legends competition;
Battle of the Legends entry (by Ricky)
Battle of the Legends entry (by Stephen T.)
The Battle of the Legends competition entry phase has now ended. You can see the entries by clicking the banner on the right or going to the LEGENDS page. Committee Members can then cast their "Top 3" votes! That vote ends on Sunday @ 11:59pm EST.
Just to run down the ongoing votes and when they end...
DHL Final (ends Tuesday @ 11:59pm EST)
COTW (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
Legends "Top 3" (ends Sunday @ 11:59pm EST)
In case you missed it, this weekend featured two posts instead of a tutorial. Check out the 2011 Best of HJC and Sunday's post.
For anyone who is looking for goalie pad templates, check out The Goalie Guild's PadsFactory. The templates are huge and may take a while to download, but they are great...not terribly MS Paint friendly, but give them a try.
Frequent contributor, Spirit104, has a new blog where he's posting his own concepts. Check it out here.
Chatham Jr. Maroons concepts (by Alan)Alan sent in concepts for this Junior B team a couple of weeks ago and I had suggested some improvements. He has applied those suggestions to his concepts.
Quebec Nordiques concept (by Josh)Looks like Josh has the Coyotes moving to Quebec in this concept. The red in the logo is a different shade than what is on the sweater and there are no TV numbers. I can also tell that old Jets numbers were used as there are still dark blue pixels inside the numbers and letters.
Vancouver Canucks concept (by Kyle C.)I'm guessing that Kyle isn't a Luongo or Canucks fan. The jersey itself I like as Johnny Canuck as a shoulder patch is a nice touch. The logo on the player model is crooked though.
Ottawa Senators logo mash-up (by Brian B.)Brian used the face from the rarely seen updated profile logo and mashed it with the original Sens logo. Looks pretty good. I'd have loved to have seen mash-up jerseys with this.
Montreal Canadiens concept (by WinnipegJets96)Jets96 has done the right thing by not changing anything with this "Original 6 70th Anniversary" sweater. The big problem in my opinion, is the thick red stripe running down the sock. It's tough to match a very classic jersey that has a lot of history behind it with a newer more modern element.
Toronto Maple Leafs concept (by WinnipegJets96)We conclude Jets96 anniversary sets with the best Original 6 team, the Leafs! Yes, I am VERY biased. It's a good job on the jersey and he's also changed the socks here, but he's kept them classic to match the sweater. Of note is the blue hem on the jersey concept, but it doesn't appear on the player model. Also, I'll over look the fact that he has moved Ben Scrivens form goalie to forward because I did that earlier this year with a Islanders Nabokov concept.
St. Louis Blues concepts (by Brandon S.)Brandon takes his first shot at using the player model and he's done a nice job! I really like that road jersey, it looks tremendous! If the road concept didn't accompany this home sweater I would say remove the yoke outline (on the home). However, it matches the set and still looks fairly good. COTW nomination from me!
Dallas Stars concept (by Avi)Great job using both the black and the green of the Stars and not having the green get lost in the black! I really have no complaints about this concept, it looks great! If I have to nitpick, it would be that there is no green stripe on the pants, but that's all.
