Week of December 12-18, 2011
The year is almost out and that means we are getting closer to determining our Concept of the Year! This week's COTW nominees have been announced and they are listed on the left side of the page.Committee Members can vote up until Thursday @ 11:59pm EST.
The winning DHL Brooklyn Americans entry is below, by Steven G.Results of that vote are below.
The winning DHL Vancouver Millionaires entry is below, by Steven G.Results of that vote are also below.
Committee Members can now vote on their favourite entry from each division. That vote runs until Thursday @ 11:59pm EST. Click on the DHL banner on the left to see the winning entries.
The new competition starts today! Introducing the Battle of the Legends. Click on the banner on the right or go to the LEGENDS page for all of the details. This should be a lot of fun, especially for those who like to create logos as well!
Chicago Blackhawks concepts (by Stephen T.)I'm not crazy about the striping on the jerseys, it seems to be a little mish-mashed. Also, the collar on the red jersey uses true white, but then the rest of the sweater uses vintage white. I like how Stephen has added colour to the original logo though.
Edmonton Oilers concepts (by Shaun)I could really like these if it wasn't for the piping and side panels. I think the orange arms and cuffs look pretty cool. It's too bad that wasn't continued on the white sweater. Blue cuffs there would make it look even better, in my opinion.
Calgary Hitmen concepts (by Kevin) His explanation is on the concepts.
Brandon Wheat Kings concepts (by Kevin) His explanation is on the concepts.
Florida Panthers concept (by Kris)Kris takes the original Panthers jersey, adds the alternate logo, and uses the FLA shoulder patch. Good looking jersey Kris.
Florida Panthers concept (by Spirit104)Spirit gives us a white Panthers concept. I like the curved stripe, it just seems to make me think of a claw swipe or something of that nature. I also like the double outline on the yoke. I'm not digging the red helmet with the white sweater though.
New York Islanders concept (by Tex)Tex uses the new 3rd jersey and applies striping theme of the home sweater. He's also chosen to use the logo on the front as opposed to a wordmark. The NY shoulder patches look pretty cool as well. Overall, a good concept and, as usual, better than what the Islanders came out with. What were they thinking?!?!?!

I vote for Kevin's Brandon Wheat Kings concepts for COTW!
I really like the Islanders alternate concept, it gives the team a great "alternate identity".
For the record, some info about the Calgary Hitmen. They are indeed named after WWF/E Hall of Famer (and Calgary native) Bret "The Hitman" Hart, who was one of the founding owners when the team came to life in 1994. As well, pink and black (Bret's attire colours) were part of their original palette which also included grey.
i vote the hitmen for cotw! wow. those really caught my eye.
I 2nd the Wheat Kings nomination.
