Week of March 26 - April 1, 2012
The winner of the WHA ReDesign is Matt M. with his Indianapolis Racers concepts! The result of the Final vote is below.
The COTW nominees for the week of March 19-25 have been listed. You can see the concepts by clicking on the banner on the side of the page or by going to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Voting Committee Members can now begin voting.
The logo that was chosen the most in the initial HJC Jersey primary logo poll, received enough negative feedback that I started a run-off poll. That poll features the top 4 chosen logos from the first poll. The run-off poll can be found on the HJC JERSEY page and will conclude on Wednesday.
Calgary Flames concept (by NB14)
These colours worked, but only when the jersey was red, in my opinion. This concept also has some execution errors. The chest stripe is too low, the logo is too small, and the arm stripes are incomplete lines. NB14 has some more stuff on the way which gets better.
Sarnia Sting concept (by Arron)
This was Arron's entry for the Sarnia Sting's 3rd jersey competition. I like the simple two thick black stripes on the arms, and I also like the honeycomb yokes. Unfortunately, the black used on the numbers and NOB isn't the same as what's used on the uni and I'm not really digging the black hem.
Sarnia Sting concept (by Caz)
This is Caz's entry to the Sting competition. It also uses the arm striping that I like. I like the grey on the yokes, but not how it's used on the hem. Perhaps a grey stripe that curved with the hem and then outlined in black might have been better.
Montreal Canadiens concept (by HJC)
This is more of a plea than a concept. A plea for the Canadiens to adopt this early 70's inspired retro jersey as an alternate sweater. Bringing back the pants from the 50's would be great, but not essential. They don't even have to wear it 15 times a year, just home games against Original 6 opponents on Saturday nights!
Winnipeg Jets concept (by Matt R.)
Obviously the sleeve design is a tribute to their former team, the Thrashers. I was never a fan of that design, but I applaud Matt for trying something "out of the box". I didn't think that the shoulder patch would hold up as a primary crest, but Matt's concept has changed my mind on that.
Windsor Spitfires concepts (by Elias)
I wish the airplane was bigger in the logo, maybe even just stretching out of the circle. The Flyers striped jerseys do work well with it though. I love the effort that Elias has put into the images of the players wearing the uniforms, great work!
Michigan Wolverines concept (by D3troit1388)
I think this looks fantastic, but I also think that the wordmark needs to be bigger. It would be cool to see something like this at one of the games that the NCAA will play during the Winter Festival week before the 2013 Classic.
Vancouver Canucks concept (by Tex)
Tex has made some adjustments to the Canucks' 3rd jersey including, adding silver to the arm stripes, adding white cuffs, and changing the font to a more traditional block font. I like the captain's A on the front of the jersey, but I think the NOB font should match.
Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Tyler G.)
Tyler has added the stripes from the socks to the home jersey on the arms. I like that idea, but I would have kept those stripes white instead of grey. Also, the numbers on the back are too close together and the outline is too thick, if the intention was to replicate what they wear now.
Columbus Blue Jackets concepts (by Scott M.)
These are really great Jackets concepts. I really like the white at the end of the sleeves on the blue jersey. Adding two more stars to the original above the cuffs was a great choice. The only issue that I see is that the blue in Avi's shoulder patch is not the same blue used on the jerseys. Still, some great work here Scott.
Matt M. - 6
Brady - 4

Hey Ryan! I'm flattered! Seing your tabs concept, you seem to have become a regular reader of my blog! ;-)
@Stephane: I do check it out once or twice a week.(letroisiemechandail.blogspot.ca) for those wondering.
The Habs almost wore that sweater at the '03 Outdoor Classic, but not quite.
I'm loving the new template you made. Thanks for drawing that up!
Congrats Matt on winning the WHA redesign! I'm a huge fan of Indy and I'm glad a Racers jersey won! (Even though it wasn't mine!) ; )
BTW Ryan, is the only difference between the current Habs sweater and yours the tie strings?
I've been away the last few days on a fishing/camping trip so I'm just now catching up on things. Thnaks stlsnake1985, and thanks to all of you out there who voted for my Racers concept.
I really like Scott M's Blue Jackets concept. That gets a COTW nom from me.
