Tuesday: The Voting Begins
I had a feeling this may happen, both Stéphane and Justin got their entries in the HJC Open Final in early. Which means that voting can now begin. Click the banner at the top of the page or go to the HJC OPEN tab which will lead you to the links to see the entries. Good luck to both Stéphane and Justin, this looks like it's going to be a very close match-up!
I'm still taking concepts for a Championship logo for the HJC Open. It's sort of a contest, but I'm the only judge. I will choose my favourite logo and that will be used on Monday's post.
The time has come for me to discuss with you guys the future of HJC. If you are new here, or have missed some posts in the past, my wife and I are expecting our first child at the end of August. That obviously means that I will have less time to dedicate to this blog. On Saturday at noon Eastern time, a post will go up explaining some of the ideas I have on how HJC can carry on after my baby arrives. Not only will I give ideas, but on that post I will welcome EVERYONE's ideas on how HJC can carry on.
Committee Members, don't forget that you have until Thursday to email in your COTW and 2nd Quarter votes.
Comments will be short today. It's quite hot in Toronto resulting in me having a headache and being sluggish.
Mississauga St. Mike's Majors concepts (by WhiteLightning)
The home and road jerseys are cool. They look a bit like a previous Florida Panthers concept that White had posted before, but still cool. I'm not a fan of the 3rd jersey. Too "Reebok-ish" for my tastes. 7/10
Frolunda Indians Elitserien concept (by Felix T.)
The arm stripes seem a little thin and the jersey itself seems quite empty. The collar has the NHL shield on it, even though this is a Swedish league team and the collar itself has not been coloured. Inside or out. 4/10
Calgary Cowboys concepts (by NB14)
One of the reasons that the people who liked the WHA liked it so much was because it wasn't the NHL. Using the Flames' colours on these jerseys makes too close of a tie between the NHL team and the WHA team. I feel like the jersey on the right needs hem stripes to match it to the left jersey. 6/10
Detroit Red Wings concept (by John Ha.)
The idea is good and I like that John tried to incorporate a live action player model. The biggest problems are the stripes which are not straight and they slip outside of the template at points. 4/10
Buffalo Sabres concepts (by Stephen T.)
Stephen has placed the Buffa-slug in the current logo, but unfortunately now it looks like roadkill. I like the alternate JERSEY, but I don't care for that 90's logo in these colours. 6/10
Milwaukee Marauders concepts (by Chuckie)
A big tip of the hat to Chuckie for creating his own primary logo! I don't like that it's on an angle, but it definitely could work. It just needs that pro touch that so many of us lack. I like the alternate jerseys...for a minor league team. 7/10
Syracuse Crunch concepts (by Matt C.)
Matt has taken the Crunch sweater of the past several years and has applied the Lightning's colours to them. While these seem to be decently executed, they are a bit underwhelming. 6/10
Tampa Bay Lightning concept (by Brian B.)
When Brian sent this to me I said it looks like what the Lightning should have done with the alternates of the 90's. It's a little out there, but I think it could still work as an alternate now! COTW nom from me! 9/10
Boston Bruins concept (by Justin N.)
For starters, the anniversary logo is good. I also like this jersey as one of many possible throwbacks or fauxbacks for that special season. My personal opinion is if you are going with retro brown pants, then why not do the same with the gloves? 8/10
Colorado Avalanche concepts (by Scott D.)
The jerseys look very good and everything is well executed. These seem like they get a bit of inspiration from the NHL's Rockies. NOB on the white jersey may be too difficult to see from a distance. 8/10
Macon Whoopee concepts (by WinnipegJets96) *Description on concept. 7/10
St. Louis Blues concept (by Justin C.)
This is just a really great Blues jersey! That trumpet logo looks SO GOOD without red and as a shoulder patch. The way Justin does his TV numbers still bothers me because it looks like they would read 7474, but that's probably just me. 9/10
Mississauga Steelheads concepts (by WhiteLightning)
I like the idea of the third jersey, but I would switch the lighter blue and the grey. The home and road sweaters look too much like what the Victoria Royals revealed last year, but that's never stopped CHL teams before. 7/10

justin c for COTW!
I second that. Cox's concept is stellar.
Ill second Justin's COTW nom!
second brian b. for COTW
Thanks for the noms! I get what you're saying about the TV numbers, though. I've been doing them differently on my newer concepts.
I'll give the other Justin's Bruins concept a COTW nom! The anniversary logo is great and I wouldn't mind seeing the B's wear these for their 90th. As much as I like the gloves, you need some brown ones to go with the pants. Regardless, good work!
I believe that White Lighning's third jersey for his Majors concept was meant to resemble the team's pre-edge jerseys.
