Wednesday: Votes, They're Everywhere!!!

Three separate votes are currently ongoing for Committee Members to vote on. The 2nd Quarter and COTW votes end tomorrow and the HJC Open Final vote ends on Sunday. Be sure to get your votes in before the deadlines. Why not do them all at once?
2nd Quarter Vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
COTW July 9-15 vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
HJC Open Final vote (ends Sunday @ 11:59pm EST)

--------------------------------------------------

The time has come for me to discuss with you guys the future of HJC. If you are new here, or have missed some posts in the past, my wife and I are expecting our first child at the end of August. That obviously means that I will have less time to dedicate to this blog. On Saturday at noon Eastern time, a post will go up explaining some of the ideas I have on how HJC can carry on after my baby arrives. Not only will I give ideas, but on that post I will welcome EVERYONE's ideas on how HJC can carry on.

--------------------------------------------------

Medicine Hat Tigers concept (by WhiteLightning)
The idea of having tiger stripes on the jersey seems good, but I look at this and it seems a bit childish. Not as in immature, more like a fan jersey they would make in kids sizes. A cool idea would be to have the stripes sublimated on a black jersey. 7/10

Montreal Hockey concepts (by Chuckie)
When Chuckie sent this in he accompanied it by telling me that he doesn't really like it. I say why send it in then? The jerseys themselves aren't bad, but the logo looks forced. It's too obviously a mish-mash of other logos. A big M logo would have been better. 6/10

Montreal Canadiens concept (by Stephen T.)
To start with, the colours are too dark and don't contrast enough. On first glance, it just looks like a plain black sweater. The idea is unique, but I don't personally think it works in this situation, or for a hockey jersey in general. 5/10

Montreal Canadiens concept (by Tristan)
Wow, I quite like this as a Canadiens third jersey. Understandably, most would probably say to not mess with the Habs sweaters. However, I think the risk that Tristan took paid off here. It looks cool and classic, just as the Canadiens should. I love the TV numbers on the stripes! 8/10

New York Islanders concept (by Matt C.)
We've probably seen this idea a few times, but here is Matt's take on it. I would like to see the captain's letters, front numbers, and TV numbers have the same white outline as the script. I also feel like there needs to be a bit more of a presence on the front of the jersey. Perhaps the logo instead of the number? 7/10

Minnesota Wild concepts (by Dave C.)
There seems to be growing support for Nike to take over the NHL jerseys when Reebok's contract expires in a few years. These home and road Wild concepts would look great on any template! Nothing wrong with the alternate jersey, but I much prefer it in green. Also, Dave sent this in mere hours before it was announced that Parise would wear 11. All of these are quite well executed. 8/10

Pittsburgh Penguins concepts (by Justin N.)
Justin has promoted Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 3rd jerseys from last season to full-time status for the NHL's Penguins. It seems to me like there's not enough gold on the white road jersey. Also the back collar is gold, but the front collar is white. I think the third jersey would look better if the blues were reversed. The logos could use a bit more of an outline and have the R removed at the bottoms. 6/10

Vancouver Canucks concept (by Spirit104)
This one is well executed, but much more boring that what the Canucks are wearing now. I personally don't see the imagination in it. It looks like a somewhat generic striping pattern with Canucks' colours applied to it. 6/10

New York Rangers concept (by Matt R.)
The eagle in the logo makes this one look more like a Team USA jersey with a Rangers logo applied. I really like the arm stripes, but I would move them up the arm to their typical location. I'd also go with white sleeves until those stripes and then go with blue down to the cuffs. 7/10

Arizona Wildcats concepts (by Kevin W.) *Description on concept. 8/10

Barrie Colts concepts (by WhiteLightning)
I really like all of these designs that White has put together for the Colts. Currently, Barrie's sweaters just look like they threw their colours in available blocks on the jerseys. These give them a new and cool look, that also LOOK like hockey sweaters! 8/10

Chicago Blackhawks concept (by Steven G.)
I really like everything about this one. From the red pants to the secondary logo on the sleeves. The multitude of stripes is also quite favourable. It's a non-factor, but I should mention the lack of Reebok logo on the back collar. 9/10

I suspect you don't give out 10/10s very often, but any tips on how I can improve my Arizona concept?

I'm doing a whole series of Pac-12 Conference hockey concepts so I'd love any advice I can get.
