Friday: C'mon Guys...

Well yesterday it looked like there was a glimmer of hope for NHL hockey this year. But ultimately, even though proposals and counter proposals were made we are no closer to having a season than we were before. In fact the NHL has just cancelled all games up until November 1... this is not looking good. This may be a very simplistic view, but We know the players supposedly love the game and want to play and earn salaries, and the owners want to earn money, and the fans want to watch hockey.  It seems to me the best way to make everyone happy is to have the players play games, which the fans can go to , and the owners can make money from. It seems to me the bes way to earn profit from hockey is to actually play games, hopefully both the players and owners will realize this and start talking again soon.

Even though there is not a lot going on for the NHL right now, there is a lot going on here at HJC

CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers concept (by Deferoiler)

I am a big fan of the simple, big letter as a logo on the chest. It just seems like a tried and true classic look. That being said, I like everything going on on this sweater, but the modern shoulder design does not jive with the rest of this sweater which gives off a classic look. 7/10.

Team Canada concept (by Matt L.)

Overall, this isn't really a cohesive looking sweater, it feels like a fill tool job. This jersey would be better if it had a name on the back, and if a little more care was taken to make sure there are no loose pixels around the logos. 6/10.

CFL Calgary Stampeders concept (by WinnipegJets96)

I think the simple Flyers-type template works well here for the Stamps. My one complaint is that the logo does not look good white on white. I would have gone with a dark version of the logo, or a red sweater to make it pop more. 7/10.


NBA Orlando Magic concept (by Mike S.)

I see what's going on here, and understand the challenge presented when transferring a Basketball jersey to a hockey jersey (this jersey has arms... WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO!?!?!), I really do think that if there was more basketball flair brought into this sweater it would look better. I would make the front numbers much bigger, and maybe even use a template which suggests a basketball jersey shape (I think the piping on the buffaslug jerseys do this well), and colour it accordingly. As is this sweater seems bland and empty, despite the lines going on on the yoke. 6/10.

CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers concept (by WinnipegJets96)

I like the inclusion of the wordmark above the W, this is very CFL. I would also have the thin blue stripe between the white and gold on the hem, like there is on the arms. 7/10.

Philadelphia Flyers concept (by Daniel J.)

Great vintage feel here from Daniel. I like the stripes, there are a lot of them, but they don't feel overdone. These would fit well with the current Flyers home and road jerseys. 8/10.

Team USA concept (by Daniel J.)

A solid Team USA set here from Daniel. I personally prefer the navy blue, but the royal blue looks good here. I like the blue sweater here, but feel like the white sweater could benefit from a full blue shoulder yoke rather than just the blue patches for the numbers. 8/10.

Philadelphia Flyers concept (by Mason H.)

I initially didn't like the Flyers is gray, but this sweater has REALLY grown on me. The flyers 3D logo reminds me of a friend from elementary school who was a huge Flyers friend and often wore the Flyers 3D third jersey to school. This friend moved away before high school, and is now playing ECHL hockey with the Colorado Eagles, so I guess this logo has a decent amount of sentimental value for me. This logo also looks good in gray. I also like the "A" captains letter, very unique. great unique features, and good job making a gray jersey work for the flyers. 8/10 and a COTW nomination from me.
