Wednesday: Happy Halloween

It's Halloween.  Unfortunately there are no black and orange concepts for me to show you today.  :(

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you a committee member, do not forget to vote for the COTW.

COTW Oct 22-28 vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a very unique contest going on right now, the No Horizontal Lines Third Jersey Competition.  The contest was Fridays writer Colin M's idea.  If you going to enter, make sure you read all the rules on the contest page, because there are some unique rules.

Note: This post was written last night and is being auto-posted, since I won't be near a computer for most of today.  When I checked last night for contest entries there were no new ones, so don't worry if your entry isn't posted today.

Montreal Canadiens (by Ian V.)
Ian makes the Canadiens' barber-pole jersey from a few years ago much more tolerable, by using the Ottawa 67's style arm stripes.  He then also changes up their road jersey.  Those changes are okay, but I'm sure Montreal fans would hate them, they seem to hate any change.  7/10

Montreal Canadiens (by Stephen T.)
Stephen makes similar changes to the Canadiens' road jersey, especially on the arms.  Once again, they look okay, but I wouldn't want to see them used in real-life.  A few execution errors, the logo is low and off-center, Gionta is spelled wrong, and the sleeve numbers are coloured different than the back numbers (I don't know if that was on purpose or not).  6/10

Pittsburgh Penguins (by Adam H.)
Lots and lots and lots of unique ides on this concept by Adam.  An off center logo, the captain's patch in a triangle, the TV number in the shoulder logo, and different colour gloves for each jersey.  I think the off center logo and triangle captain patch could work, but I don't think the TV number shoulder patch or the different colour gloves work.   Also execution wise, the shoulder patches need to be rotated 90 degrees so that the top faces the collar, and the primary logo could use a white outline.  7/10

Arsenal HC (by Colin M.)
Another Arsenal hockey jersey from Colin, this time a yellow alternate jersey.  I like it, the striping is good, and the logo looks good.  My favourite part is the pin-stripes.  I believe that some hockey team should actually try pin-stripes, it would be unique and I think it could look good if used correctly.  8/10

Ottawa Senators (by WinnipegJets96)
WinnipegJets96 honours the original Ottawa Senators here with a full barber-pole jersey.  I'm a big fan of that idea, I actually think the Senators could pull off a barber-pole jersey as a full-time third jersey.  A few things I don't like though, the current shoulder logo looks out of place to me, and I think the chest logo should use normal white.  8/10

New York Rangers (by Thomas H.)
Thomas brings back the popular Lady Liberty logo on a brand new jersey.  I like that jersey, it's different, but it also has ties to their current jerseys.  The striping seems to really pop, and it kind of reminds me of the USA flag.  8/10

Thomas H. for COTW. A great look for an NYR alternate.
