Friday: where did that week go?

Hello everyone. It is friday, so I guess I should write up a post for you guys. I am really short on time today, so I will be keeping this very brief.

Here is what's going on on HJC right now: Voting Committee, get out there and VOTE!

COTY-October vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm EST)
N.H.L. COMP Top 5 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm EST)
NHL Expansion naming (ends Saturday @ 9:00pm EST)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are today's concepts:

Hartford Whalers (concept by WinnipegJets96)

What I like: The striping really blends both eras of Whalers' jerseys well.
What I don't like: The blue equipment doesn't fit for me with a jersey that is mainly green.
Suggestion: Either go with green equipment, or work more blue into the striping.
7/10.

Pittsburgh Penguins (concept by Martin L.)

What I like: The striping design reminds me of a penguin's chest and wings.
What I don't like: there is too much going on on this sweater. 3 different logos, crazy striping, prominent unique numbering... It doesn't feel cohesive.
Suggestion: Simplify. use one less logo, a simpler striping design, simpler numbering
4/10.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (concept by Ricky M.)

What I like: The logo and numbering are really cool.
What I don't like: The rest of the sweater seems bland.
Suggestion: play with the striping, try to find something that reflects, and fits with the unique and classic logo and numbering.
7/10.

Hartford Whalers (concept by Stephen T.)

What I like: The presence of gray on this sweater is really good, adds a unique feel.
What I don't like: Full name and Pucky on the back.
Suggestion: Work in a bit more blue on the road uni.
6/10.

Quebec Nordiques (concept by Ian M.)

What I like: the fleur de lys inside the stripe... sort of a reverse treatment of how they are on the original jerseys. very creative, original, refreshing.
What I don't like: the third jersey is a bit of a mish-mash, and doesn't fit well with the home and road.
Suggestion: colour the bottom hem the same colour as the rest of the sweater.
7/10.

London Knights (concept by WinnipegJets96)

What I like: the color scheme is solid. kelly green, gold, NO BLACK!
What I don't like: The logo placement on this template is awkward.
suggestion: use my new full body template which faces straight on... logo placement is really easy on it.
7/10.

Minnesota Wild (concept by Colin M.)
This is my concept, so I will leave it to all y'all to rate and critique.

Montreal Maroons (concept by Tyler G.)

What I like: Clean simple heritage look is AWESOME.
What I don't like: very little... not entirely sold on the shoulder yoke.
Suggestion: try to colour the equipment to feel a bit more vintage. use browns and vintage white to simulate leather and canvas.
8/10. COTW nomination also.

have a great weekend everyone!

I'll second Tyler G. Very nice jersey there.

Colin, I like how you have added a Suggestion part for everyone. Not everyone might like this, but I do because I send my concepts in, and with suggestions I can take the advice, learn, and maybe make better jerseys.

I really like this posting format Colin. I think it could really take off when you have some more time to post next week!

I really like Tyler G.'s Maroons concept, but i don't know if i'd be keen on the brown equipment, it seems sorta tacky to me, beige would look cool. I also really like how you layed out the criticsim Colin! its gets straight to the point, I may try it if you do not mind

glad you guys like this format... I try to do this mentally when I post normally, but laid it out this way this week to keep it quick and simple. Jets96, feel free to post like this whenever you want.
