Monday: Millionaire November

Welcome to the Monday post!

If you haven't heard already, HJC is hosting the Grand Rapids Griffins jersey design contest! It's the second year we've hosted in and it's quite an honour to be given this opportunity again. Thanks to the GR Griffins' organization to allowing us to host it again!

This contest runs a little differently, you can click the big banner on the top of the page to get the full list of rules, but there are template restrictions, and entries will not be posted on the daily posts, but rather kept on the contest page for your viewing (If that is not the case, Ryan will correct me but that's how it was last year).

The contest runs until Nov. 23rd so you all have plenty of time to get your entries ready, start thinking now and drafting concepts, there's no rush, but the field will be tight I assure you. Last year there were many amazing concepts, but it's also a fantastic contest with a excellent prize!

That being said..DON'T FORGET ABOUT COTW voting!!!

COTW Oct 25-31 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
ReWrite History Comp (entries due Wednesday @ 9:59pm Eastern)
GR Griffins Comp (Nov. 23rd @ 11:59 pm Eastern)

Let's check out the Rewrite history comp. entries since last post!

None as of 4:25 AST (That's Halifax time, so 1 hour+ Eastern) I'll check back later in the evening and post an update if any entries come in!

On to the concepts!!!

----------------------------------------------

Vancouver Canucks Concepts (By: Ryan C.)

+ The Johnny Canuck V logo & green jerseys go together perfectly!
+ A Vancouver logo with angles & angled striping look great
+ The striping is simple but the whole jersey goes together
+ Good execution

- Should patch? Maybe something like the rink in stick logo?
- TV umbers are slightly too small, just slightly too small but they'd be legible

Rating: 9/10- COTW Nom from me!

Vancouver Millionaires Concept (By: Erebus H.)

+ I love the idea of a concept that uses lots of black with the maroon & beige
+ Colours are balanced well
+ I've never reviewed anything from Erebus so welcome to HJC, good execution for a first concepts

- Shoulder patches are too large
- Black numbers are hard to read, not impossible but difficult
- Remember that stitching stops at the hem striping
- Small details: The yoke inside the collar should be black to match the rest of the yoke, and the shading on the full body model should be a darker/lighter shade of the same colour on the concept

Rating: 6.5/10

Vancouver Canucks Concept (By: Zeke G.)

+ Another Millionaire camp I like is the blue and white jersey that swaps the maroon for blue
+ Good execution, I've seen a couple concepts from Zeke and I see lots of potential
+ The big angled striping is great against the hem stripes

- That being said about the arm stripes, the stripes are too large, slightly smaller and you're golden. Same goes with the V not he helmet
- Numbers are too small, as is the glove template
- Remember to update the Reebok logo on the pants
- Same thing as the previous concept with the inside yoke and hem stitching

Rating: 6.5/10

Nashville Predators Concepts (By: Lucas D.)

+ Lucas's execution is getting much better, only minor errors on this concept
+ Great striping pattern, it's unique but doesn't go overboard and bring the Preds back to 1998
+ I'm surprised how well the old Preds numbers look on this jersey, it makes it look better
+ The yoke is perfect!

- Logo is still pretty pixelated, as are the numbers
- The NOB is too large and the numbers are too small on the back
- Any Nashville concept should use at least one of their amazing secondary logos, I'm biased since I've been a guitarist for the better part of 11 years, but that guitar pick loog would look great

Rating: 7.5/10

----------------------------------------------

That's the post!
Don't forget to vote and keep sending in those entries for both contests
Go Jets, Moose & Mooseheads!
Have a great week

I had a feeling that the big news would be a pro team asking for a design, so I was right
