Tuesday: CHRISTMAS!!!!

Don't you feel that Christmas spirit? The red cups at Starbucks... RED CUPS??? Red cups with no design on them? How ridiculous!!!!! You know what else is ridiculous? That this post will be a little later today. I know I know, I've been doing so well lately and I will admit I had a slip up today with a post. I'd rather have it late with honest reviews of concepts rather than rushed reviews that don't help.

So before we move onto concepts I'd like to point out that you could have your own jersey made and worn by an AHL team....if you win the contest. However, you cannot win the contest if you don't send in a concept. So, what are you waiting for? Send in your idea! Make sure you follow the rules though!

Brandon Wheat Kings Concept - Brooks F.

 I always enjoy seeing Brandon Wheat Kings concepts because they all have a different technique on using the wheat stalks. That might seem boring after awhile but it's interesting how they're integrated. I not only love the way Brooks did it to his concepts but I love the gray jersey that it is on. The black and yellow compliment each other so nicely with the neutral jersey color. I think the black numbers with the gold outline is great too. Part of me actually doesn't want to see any white on the concept at all though. I feel like you could leave it in the logo but I think eliminating it from the jersey design could make it look fantastic! I would love to see that but as it stands it's still an awesome concept!

Tri-City Americans Concept - Hayden D

 Now and then we will get a pink for breast cancer awareness jersey. This one really throws the pink out in your face! I like the relationship of colors you used and how the ribbon molds into the jersey hem stripe. I would love to see that stripe to be the basis of the arm striping though too! One thing I do not agree with on this is the big number. I think the overlapping is a little awkward and is just way too big. Unpleasantly big, like the Stadium Series TV numbers. Make some slight changes and this would be a really cool minor league jersey to roll out with.

Team Sweden Concept - Lucas D

 Team Sweden concepts are usually so similar that they kind of get boring. Lucas tries to spice the jersey up a bit and goes against tradition. He uses just one crown but takes the three onto the cuff. I'm not against this move, and adding the sash adds something interesting to it. Part of me wonders if it is needed on the back though, I think just on the front would be great. I think less white outlines would be something to explore with this concept. Maybe taking the white outlines away from the yoke and names or the numbers and stripes could be a way to go. I just think with all the white and gold touching it can start to blend in and become too bright in some areas. Just a thought.

Detroit Red Birds (NWHL Expansion) Concept - Matt G.

Matt expands the women's hockey league. Giving Detroit another sports team. To me I feel as if the logo choices should be flipped. I think the bird head is a stronger emblem for the front of a jersey. I personally would like to see that on the front of the home and away. I see the relationship to the Red Wings which is cool. It also adds on black to the Red Wings which is a challenge I want to succeed at someday. I would make the black thicker on the home and away for the stripes though. I think making it bigger and bolder would make the jerseys look more united. The alternate is a cool design. Great exploration here by Matt to add in a new technique to bring in wings to a jersey. I like the shoulder with no white but part of me wants white in other places. Definitely on the TV numbers outline and the hem stripe and arm stripes I think need it. Also, execution notice, there are no arm stripes on the back of the alternate. Interesting, and could very much work!
