Wednesday: So Many Stripes
What's up hockey people? Beautiful hump day isn't it? Well... hopefully it is for you... it's gray and cold here in Northern Illinois. So.... good weather to stay inside and go over some HJC Concepts.
Hell... it's a good day to stay inside and make some new concepts...
There's a couple different concepts you could create too. Of course there's the usual concepts which we post everyday, which could be of literally anything you wanted it to be. OR... you can create a third jersey for the Grand Rapids Griffins. And while you're at it, there's three votes you could take part in.
So why don't we jump right into it?
Minnesota Wild Concept - Chase C.
Pretty common concept here. Wild jerseys with striping based off of their current green jersey. There's a lot of concepts on HJC to look back through so I won't, but I feel like it'll be safe to say we've probably seen something almost exactly like this. That being said, the dark jersey would look better without the beige yoke. The white jersey is pretty good as is.
Rating: 7/10
Buffalo Sabres Concept - Lucas D.
Hmm, can't say I've seen anyone take this approach with the Sabres. Interesting idea. However, I think it would look better if the logo had its white. But then I would think the jersey needs some white trim. For what it is, a concept, this works pretty decently. But I wouldn't want to see this on the ice.

Ottawa Senators Concept - Ryan C.
The striping here is very similar to the Bruins' new Winter Classic sweater. Not a bad look. Actually, this jersey is a pretty good mix of classic and modern and that kind of look seems to fit Ottawa well since that seems to be what they're doing with their modern(ugly) primaries and fantastic classic alternates.

Dauphin Kings Concept - Brooks F.
The Kings are a Junior A team in Manitoba for those that didn't know. Give them a Google and you'll see quite a few different jersey designs. The most prominent I'm seeing is a Capitals set and a third jersey modeled after the current LA Kings jersey. Brooks gives the team their own look here and I like what he's done with the team's logo. I like the idea of a beige jersey but it's not dark enough to set it apart from white jerseys, plus the lion logo gets lost in the beige. Best bet is just a dark blue jersey. If you really want the beige jersey either make it the light jersey or make it a third jersey.

That's it folks, Wednesday done again. I feel like our concept count has been dipping again, which is odd since it's hockey season. I mentioned it earlier, but maybe now would be a good time for people to look back and take their favorite submitted concept that didn't get the love they had hoped for and take it back to the drawing board. See if you can use the critique it got and improve on it.

Is there a restriction regarding the number of entries per person for the griffins contest?
