Monday: Hey Bulldog!

Welcome to another Monday post!

I figured I'd start with jersey news since I didn't know this existed. I usually don't mention CHL alternates because a lot of them are one off jerseys and it's hard to get pictures of them. In this case though, it's quite funny seeing a team do this.

We'll start with a jersey that isn't cringe worthy. Teddy Bear tosses are a fun little hockey event, and usually spawn one off jerseys, usually with bears on them or Christmas related. Any Hamilton Bulldogs fans out there wanna help me with this one?

I couldn't find an actual photo of just the jersey, but these look WAY too mundane for a teddy toss game. Have the Bulldogs slipped a decent blue alternate on us without any release?  I'd doubt it, but this probably the best option for a full time alternate without a re-brand.

Prince George Cougars....what the hell are you doing? Granted I'll say your new logo is good...but....what is this?

PEI Rockets are back! Kidding, I don't mind the colour swap so much, black and red really wasn't working for them and the team has a history of wearing blue & red. You may think this is positive....it's just....look at this... I didn't want to give it away but...click the link to see what the jersey actually looks like....

If that doesn't get the concept gears driving...idk what will

Avangard Omsk Concepts (By: Artem S.)

+ People tend to give this template a hard time but it really fits Avangard's logos and colour scheme
+ The white jersey is pretty well done, since the black jersey is unchanged from the Sens, the white jersey is the new one and it looks good
+ The pants surprisingly match the jersey well, I dig it
+ Good execution

- The script on the back of the jersey I'd think is where an ad is supposed to go but using the team' script would look better than a paint font
- The shoulder patches are a little grainy
- Don't forget about changing the vector logo

Washington Capitals Concepts (By: Kitt S.)

+ Interesting custom logo and colour scheme, a unique way to combine the two most recent eras in DC and it works well to an extent
+ Striping is simple, something Washington needs
+ Decent execution

- The red & gold don't go together, especially on the white jersey's logo, if this is to work, there needs to be white in-between the two colours
- Shoulder patches? Even stars would be better than nothing
- Pants are too plain
- Captain's C is too close to the collar

Chicago Bears NFL Crossover Concept (By: Glen W.)

+ Nice to see NFL crossover concepts, and nice to see new artists, I've seen a few of Glenn's concepts in recent posts, but none the less, welcome to HJC, Glenn!

+ Despite the string being simple, I do like the amount of orange & white around the blue

- There isn't really a striping pattern, more so a paint-bucket fill. Try practicing striping patterns 

- There are plenty of fonts to chose from in the TEMPLATES section, that way you don't have to use the paint numbers

- Try working on tv numbers & shoulder patches as well

*The TUTORIALS section on the blog has plenty of resources for you to improve your concepts 

Rating: 4/10- Keep at it! You'll improve that rating with practice.

Albany Devils Concept (By: Hayden D.)

+ Solid logo, a unique design 

+ Nice striping pattern, looks like the Jets but not a total rip off 

+ Love seeing the A-Devs in green & red

- There are lots of little execution errors: The back and front hem stripes don't match, the number on the back are too low, the stitching goes into the hem striping, primary logo is too low and the sock striping is too high

- Gloves are a bit of a mess

Rating: 7/10

San Jose Sharks Concepts (By: Zeke G.)

+ The new logo with the old jersey and shoulder path looks surprisingly solid 

+ The arms are done pretty well, and if the rest of the teal jersey matched it, you'd have a great jersey

+ Execution is getting better

- The hem on both jersey need a lot of work. The teal jersey looks unfinished, if it matched the hem, it'd look fine. The white jersey needs a little more work,maybe making the cuffs teal and then making the hem match that also looks good

-  NOB is too high up and numbers is too large and slightly off centred , same with the primary logo 

- Pants need some striping or a logo 

-Captain's C is off entered and too small

Ak Bars Kazan Concepts (By: Artem S.)

+ Ak Bars pulls off the buff-a-slug look pretty well, especially in the colours 

+ Good logo choices

+ Good execution

+ Rest of the gear matches perfectly 

- Same problems with the script on the bad & vector logo

- TV numbers are too close to the shoulders

Team Canada Concepts (By: Josiah B.)

+ Solid logo choice, the 2002 Salt Lake City alternate looks fantastic 

+ Sweet striping patten 

+ It's a great mix of old & new

+ Great execution 

- One big no no us putting the Nike logo on the Reebok template doesn't really flow well

Team USA Concepts (By: Josiah B.)

+ Great script choice, I love that logo, it's like every university/college sweater ever 

+ Simple jersey is way better than anything overly stars & stripey 

+ Again good execution, Josiah is making strides in late 2k15 

+ It's little, but the white yoke looks awesome

- Again Nike logos 

Rating: 9.25/10

Chicago Bulls NBA Crossover Concept (By: Glen W.)

+ Again, I really dig crossovers

+ Again, the colours are on the right track

+ Good call putting the white outline around the logo  

- Same thing with the previous concept Glen had, and again, practice makes perfect

Rating: 4/10- Keep practicing and I look forward to seeing more
