Saturday: Jersey Raffle?

Let's dive right into another Saturday post.

The winner of the COTW for February 24 - March 2 was Ryan C!

Full Results

This was the final COTW of February, which makes Ryan's concept the last piece of the monthly vote puzzle. This is also our 8th different COTW winner of 2017. Nicely done Ryan and good luck in the COTW-February vote.

Speaking of the COTW-February vote, it is ongoing right now on the side of the page. It will appear if you are logged into a Google account. This is the red poll on the side of the page which includes a link to see the concepts that are entered. Votes will be counted up until Friday at noon Eastern.

The first batch of March's COTW nominees have been posted on the side of the page in the black poll. These are the concepts that have been properly nominated for the week of March 3-9. Votes will be counted up until Friday at noon Eastern.

After nearly a full month, the teams have worked hard and the presentations have been shown. It's now time to vote for the best entry of the 2017 Pairs Competition! The poll is posted in miniature size on the side of the page. The full size poll can be seen by clicking the big "Happy Pears" banner at the top of the page. Votes will be counted up until Friday at noon.

I would like to thank all the teams that entered. Everyone put forth a good presentation and completed all aspects asked for. You guys make these big competitions worth all the work that they are.

I'm always interested to hear your guys thoughts. Leave some comments in the comments section and let me know what HJC event you look forward to the most each year. The Concept of the Year vote? The Pairs Competition? The HJC Open? or maybe The Season?

JERSEY RAFFLE

I'm always brainstorming crazy ideas for the blog. I think any idea is worthwhile because even a terrible idea can spawn other ideas. Which possibly leads to great ideas.

My idea is a HJC Jersey Raffle

$5 a ticket, or $10 for 3 tickets. Those are Canadian dollars as well so for our American readers it would end up being roughly $3.75 for one ticket or $7.50 for three tickets. The idea would be that each raffle would fund the next raffle, and so on, and so on.

Money would be collected via PayPal.

Each ticket you purchase would be assigned a number and every two weeks (or every month) I would draw one winning ticket. To ensure fairness, I would not be allowed to enter the raffle and I would video and post each draw.

The person with the winning ticket would win a brand new jersey! It would be a specific jersey as well. For example, if we started this raffle soon then the first jersey would likely be the Toronto St. Pats jersey that will be worn a week from today by the Maple Leafs. A raffle in June could be for a jersey of the team that won the Cup with a SC Final patch on it. Another raffle could be for a just released Winter Classic jersey. You get the idea.

I would really like to hear some feedback on this in addition to the poll. Would this be something that you would participate in? Would you be able and willing to put in money on a bi-weekly or monthly basis for the chance to win a new jersey? Let me know in the comments.

I'd definitely participate in the jersey raffle, however, I don't know how often. If I don't like the team or design I wouldn't participate, and it seems like that would be the case more often than not if it was always a specific jersey.

I think if it was only once a month, I would totally get behind a jersey raffle

I would be interested in jersey raffles depending on teams and design. I wouldn't be interested in the one suggested for a St Pat's jersey though. Might be more interesting to do a theme for a type of jersey and see what gets picked based on that theme. Like a theme could beasily favorite original 6 jersey, or favorite 90s jersey, or other ideas like that

Also wondered how it would be handled as far as sizing for the jersey. I know if I won I would want to wear the jersey. Also would the winner have the option of paying extra to get the jersey customized if they wanted?
