Saturday: Semi-Finals
The winner of the 4th Quarter Vote was Ryan C and his fauxback Buffalo Sabres set!
Ryan's Sabres set moves into the 2015 Concept of the Year Semi-Finals vote. In the semis the 1st Quarter winner (Dylan A.) goes against the 3rd Quarter winner (Justin C.). The 2nd Quarter winner (Tristan P.) will face the 4th Quarter winner (Ryan C.)
The winner of the 2015 Concept of the Year will receive an actual championship plaque with their name on it.
For Dylan, this is the third year in a row that he will be in a COTY Semi-Final vote. In 2013 and 2014 Dylan was defeated in the Final.
Tristan makes his first COTY Semi-Final appearance, despite having been a long time contributor to HJC. He won the April monthly vote, and a concept from that month has never won COTY.
Justin C. shouldn't be a stranger to anyone who has been reading HJC for a while. Justin won the COTY back-to-back, in 2012 and 2013. His Semi-Final vote against Dylan is a rematch of the 2013 COTY Final.
Ryan C. owned 2015. He appeared in more than half of the COTW votes and won two monthly votes. This is his first trip to the COTY Semi-Finals.
It is interesting to note how every concept in the Semi-Finals has used the same template. Semi-Finals voting can be seen on the side of the page in the grey polls. Concepts can be seen by clicking the link in the polls or by going to the COTY 2015 tab. Voting ends on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern. As blog admin I am able to reserve my vote until after the voting deadline to break any ties.
The winner of the COTW for January 10-16 was Tristan M's Maple Leafs Centennial jerseys!
The new COTW nominees for January 17-23 have been listed on the side of the page in the black banner. Lots of concepts were nominated forcing us to take only the two that were thirded or more. You can click the link in the poll to see the concepts nominated or you can go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Voting ends on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern time.
Here are the final entries into the All-Star Game ReDesign.
Now that all of the entries are in we may proceed with our Pick 5 vote. Click the yellow banner at the top of the page or go to the ASG 2016 tab to see all of the entries and check out the few voting rules. Voting ends on Friday at 10:59pm Eastern (so I can count votes). You can find out the winner here next week and that winner will be entered into the COTW vote!
I always enjoy seeing how far HJC has come. When I first did Concept of the Year in 2011 we had 11 votes cast in the Final. For the 2015 4th Quarter Vote we had 55 votes cast, which is incredible. That's our highest total ever and I think we can top it for the Semi-Finals votes and then again for the Final vote. So if you have any friends out there that don't know about this blog, now is the time to tell them about it. Let them know what you love about HJC and maybe they will get on board too.
Anyways, good luck to all four guys in the COTY Semis. This is always a really fun time of the year because the concepts in the votes are so good and the results are always very close.
