Monday: 1-800-HJC-2001

Alarm-Force joke for all those who can remember when those were relivant, this also HJC's 2001st post, which is awesome! I remember writing at the 1500th post and maybe the 1000th or fairly close to it; I've been here a while...since August 2012....and probably will be a lot longer.

I recently just had a jersey sent in to be customized, and you'll find out what it is NEXT week as I want it to be a surprise. However, I'll give you some hints about it and you can guess:

1.) Motocross?
2.) The only jersey to use this template in the NHL ever
3.) The player I chose on the back wore this in his last game..and looked really depressed doing it
4.) Features some very large patches

Can you guess it?  Some of you who know you're jersey history in the last 10 years will certainly remember this jersey and this very iconic player wearing something so out of place.

You know Tucson is one of those places I really wanna visit? Now I have one more reason to do so...they're getting an AHL team thanks to the Arizona Coyotes buying them, and you can now design the team a new look. Supreme leader Ryan has given you a two week entry phase to allow you to experiment with logos/templates. In other words...get creative...let this be the contest you experiment. Who cares if you mess up trying? You tried and you have nothing to lose, GO FOR IT!

Let's see if any entries have come in yet?

Taylor R.

Hayden D.

Fernando M.

Bradley D.

Jimmy T.

Ryan C.

Sweet entries! Looking forward to seeing more!

Don't forget to vote in this week's COTW vote! This week doesn't have the same 3-on-3 match up of last week, however, you get rising star Lucas D., HJC heavyweights Ryan C. and Brooks F., and the very simple but interesting contest winner for Manny Legace's (Yes, that Manny Legace, look it up) Toronto Planets entry by DT Concepts! Should be a close vote! have your say!

COTW April 24-30 vote (ends Friday @ 11:59pm Eastern)
Tucson entries (due Fri, May 13 @ 10:30pm Eastern)

Get ready for today's concepts!!!

NWHL League Map Concepts (By: Fernando M.)

+ Right away, the Blades & Pride look much better. Good job taking what....frankly are the biggest stretch of a logo, into two different, unique ideas
+ The Brampton logo isn't perfect, but it looks a lot better in red
+ I like the Inferno's current logo, but the I is also nice
+ Best improvement: Riveters, more NYR and less WWII with the same theme

- The alternate Furies logo would look better with a white TF
- The Beauts logo, while good, reminds me too much of the Sabres, I did like how the original was more unique to the team, adding colour to that would have been better imo, but that by no means makes the logo Fernando made bad

Rating: 8.5/10

Connecticut Whale NWHL Concepts (By: Fernando M.)

+ Right away, the jerseys are really visually appealing, the colours are nice and bright but not gaudy and are well laid out, it's a good looking jersey
+ The logos really stand out nicely
+ The top 3/4s of the jersey is well laid out and well balanced
+ Good execution

- The hem stripes need work, the white jersey is alright, not great but it works, but the blue jersey needs more green where the large white hem is
- Execution note (I think), since a lot of players in the NWHL have long hair, their names are put under the numbers. If that's not the case then disregard it, but it makes sense to me

Rating: 8.25/10

Florida Panthers Concepts (By: Ryan C.)

+ If the Panthers wanted to use all they colours relatively equally, this would be the way to do it
+ Sick numbers!
+ The Panther head logo looks pretty solid on its own
+ I really dig the navy socks, they really work well and using a majority coloured sock is hard to do on both jerseys
+ Good execution

- The jersey/gear are missing Florida's two best logos, the FLA sun logo on the helmet, and the palm tree/hockey stick logo on the shoulders, that would fix things
+ The red and the navy on the white jersey would be swapped

Rating: 8.5/10

Montréal Canadiens Concept (By: Lucas D.)

+ The chest stripe works really well with the logo
+ The jersey is a solid redesign of the original Habs jersey, but is pretty modern and something the Habs could realistically do
+ Good call keeping the white collar with tie down
+ Good execution

- The numbers are too thin on the back, the blue outline would look better with a thicker outline
- Yoke needs...something...I don't know what it is...maybe the Leaf or something...but adding a blue patch to the lead would look really good

Rating: 8/10

Tampa Bay Lightning Concepts (By: Ryan C.)

+ Again, this font Ryan has made looks really good
+ A great amount of silver and black help make the Lightning look much more original and benefit the logo greatly
+ Great execution
+ The striping is really aesthetically pleasing, the single stripe below the main stripe reminds me of the Devils, but it also allows for the hem to be bare

- I would like to see the script on the hem, I think that could work but it isn't a big deal
- Is the gear blue or black. That will make or slightly less make this look

Rating: 9/10 COTW Nom. From Me!

Finland World Cup of Hockey Concepts (By: Taylor R.)

+ Right away, this would be not only unique to the Finnish team, but to pocky in general, there's lots of new and awesome ideas on this concept
+ This red shield logo really looks good and stands out on the double blue/white
+ Nice and simple striping pattern
+ Perfect execution

- Blue jerseys would look better without the yoke
- I dig the numbers, but the little straight line on top of the 4 looks point less

Rating: 9/10

New York Islanders Concepts (By: Dylan T.)

+ I'm liking the idea of the NY logo. Not that I'd want the Islanders to get rid of their current logo, but this is the best alternative they've ever had
+ Colours on the jersey itself is really well balanced
+ Good execution, especially dealing with a template that we have seen very little of
+ Sure these jerseys don't match but I like it none the less

- The arms are very plain without tv numbers
- Shoulder patch?
- The NY logo on the white jersey should be orange to help it stand out more

Rating: 7.5/10

New York Islanders Concept (By: Dylan T.)

+ After seeing a couple concepts, the blue/white 4 stripe pattern on an orange jersey looks fantastic
+ The hem is perfect
+ Colours are pretty well balanced given what Dylan is going for

-TV numbers are needed
- Same with shoulder patches
- The shade of orange on the logo doesn't match the jersey
- The arms don't really match the rest of the jersey. If they were a regular striping pattern like the white above or below it (like on the hem), and adding blue cuffs, it'd be perfect

Rating: 6.75/10
