Ryan's Last Saturday Post

Yes, this is my last Saturday post. I'm just moving one day later to Sundays next week. Caz' post will still be the first post of the week, but now he will begin each week on Saturdays. This just allows me a little more time on deadlines in case something unforeseen pops up.

ICYMI - I posted a piece on the HJC Design Blog just letting everyone know why concepts can only be nominated for COTW up until every Friday at 11:59pm.

--------------------------------------------------------

The winner of the COTW vote for April 24-30 was Brooks F! Brooks' Kitchener Rangers concept took home the win. Congrats on your 2nd win in April Brooks.

We have all four April COTW winners now and that allows us to proceed with the COTW-April vote. The entrants are listed in the red banner on the side of the page. If you can't see it that means you are not logged into a Google account. You can click the link inside the poll or go to the COTY 2016 tab to see the concepts. Voting ends on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern.

The new COTW nominees for the week of May 1-7 have been listed on the side of the page. That's the black banner and it's the same situation as above. Check out the concepts by clicking the link in the poll or by going to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab. Voting ends on Friday at 11:59pm Eastern.

The Falcons to Tucson Competition continues this week. Hopefully there will be a few more people who use the extra time to try their hand at logo creation or try a more advanced template than they had previously been using. I'll take some feedback from you guys. What do you think of the extra week for a competition?

--------------------------------------------------------
  1. If one team HAD to change their jerseys and one team HAD to keep their jerseys who would you choose between Ottawa and Pittsburgh?
  2. Can you name the 10 teams that still use the same exact home and road sweaters from the inaugural Reebok Edge season of 2007-08 (without checking NHLuniforms.com)?
  3. If your favourite team made the Cup Final, but they lost would you get a jersey with the Stanley Cup Final patch on it to remember the incredible year your team had anyways?
  4. What jersey would you most like to see released, that has yet to be released, in the CCM Vintage line?
  5. Are you purchasing a World Cup of Hockey jersey?
  6. What is the most you have paid for a jersey?
  7. What is the least you have paid for a jersey? (Free jerseys don't count)

1 – Ottawa keeps, Pittsburgh changes. Ottawa has already such an unappealing identity already and I think it would take more than a jersey change to fix the team. Pittsburgh has already eased into a new look that would disappointing to have that change ripped away from them.
2 – Beaten to the chase.
3 – Yes, because the Blue Jackets winning a playoff series, let alone making the cup finals, would be an achievement in itself.
4 – Anaheim’s Wild Wing alternate from the 90’s because it’s impossible to get otherwise.
5 – No, they’re all terrible.
6 – Just over a hundred, since so far I only got 2 in my collection and the other one I got as a gift.
7 – See above.

This feels like the podcast all over again.
1) Ottawa changes because they need it worse than Pittsburgh. New logo as well.
2) Technically Vaughn is right EXCEPT for the Rangers. Early on the Rangers would cut off the bottom of their jerseys and square off the hem. Later on they just left it alone.
3) depends on the circumstances. As an Islander fan, I'd probably get it only if we haven't won the cup recently. Suppose we win the cup this year, I'm not getting one with the patch if we lose the next year. If we make it and lose this year, then sure.
4) FISHSTICKS
5) World Cup of Hockey is a farce so no. I will get a Team USA IIHF jersey instead because that's the real national team.
6) $110. I never get names on the back so it doesn't get more expensive than that.
7) $19: Atlanta Thrashers dark jersey pre-edge.

1. Pittsburgh has the more unique color scheme so they should be the ones to keep it. Make Ottawa change to something to help them stick out.

2. I could but someone else did

3. I wouldn't. I've had to have that thought three times and everytime it was a no. Yeah it was a great season but ultimately ended in heartbreak and I wouldn't want to wear something that's going to remind me of that heartbreak.

4. Damn I don't know. I'm not entirely sure what has and hasn't been released. I would have to say either Wild Wing or Burger King. Or even Fishsticks if they haven't been made.

5. I would like to purchase both a USA and a North American jersey.

6. I just recently spent $400 on an authentic John Scott All Star jersey. TOTALLY. WORTH. IT.

7. Last season I dropped 40 bucks on a Florida Panthers CCM jersey.

Um... Not quite. Both Colorado and Montreal made slight changes to their jerseys last season
