Tuesday: I Know What You Designed Last Summer
Hi everybody. I hope you guys get that I'm playing off the movie title "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and not sounding like a complete stalker. I say this because we have a Islanders concept today that brings back the "Fisherman" Logo. That logo always reminds of that horror movie for some odd reason.
Anyways, we've got some great things going on here at HJC, mainly the Springfield-to-Tuscon competition which will be a whole two weeks. This is so you guys could experiment with designing a new logo or test out a new template. As for the Falcons keeping there name when they move; I doubt they will only because they would probably change it to something more regional or in association with the Yotes but who knows.
Also this week we have the usual COTW. Please vote. If you don't have a Google account then make one. It takes under five minutes.
The latest entries for the Competition
And now for the main event!
Negatives: Loose the cape on the alternate.
Overall: 7.5/10
Negatives: This concept is pretty rough. Also, lose the cape on this as well.
Overall: 6/10
Negatives: Quack City? No. Just no.
Overall: 8.75/10
Negatives: No TV numbers. A back of of the jersey or something to show the back nameplate and numbers would be nice. Also, this template is strange in that the shoulder logos are actually more of a 3/4 in the front instead of a fully showing. As for those Adidas stripes, Maybe they would look better if they were colored teal rather than orange. Or just loose them all together.
Overall: 6/10
Negatives: Once again, a back view would be nice to see. Other than that, stop using this template. I feel that it's not the most effective template to use.
Overall: 6.75/10
Negatives: I'm going to assume this is suppose to be a variation of a throwback uniform because the only differences between the original jersey and this one are: you cut off the yoke to make it square instead of rounded, you recolored the color to be red-white-green instead of green-red-green, and you turned the hem stripe upside down. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice concept.
Overall: 7/10
Negatives: Don't know about using the alternate word mark as the new primary logo. the flaming C is bold enough by itself. Also, why not use the modern style yoke that they use on the alternate jersey. That's just a thought though. Also, add some more yellow to this. Maybe another yellow stripe below the white stripe. It just reminds me of the Sharks jerseys.
Overall: 8/10
Negatives: It would be nice if you had done the double stripe on the hem as well as the sleeves, but it's not that big of an issue. Also, put the Coyotes logo on one side of the yoke instead of having the Arizona logo on both sides.
Overall: 8.5/10
Negatives: The white on the dark jersey should be that vintage white that they use. The Wild only use the regular white for the road jersey and it just doesn't match the color scheme of the set. Also, make that green jersey have the Wild word mark that's on their current green jersey and call it a day. And finally, make the white socks all white instead of half white and half green.
Overall: 8.5/10

And now for the main event!
Bradley Debode- Gotham City University
Positives: The bat-style yoke really ties the whole batman theme into this. Also, good use adding yellow. most teams who do a batman jersey (minus the Toledo Walleye) use a multiple gray color scheme. Also, the conservative style really makes the yoke stand out more. Oh and the alternate jersey's hem stripe looking like the utility belt was a great idea.Negatives: Loose the cape on the alternate.
Overall: 7.5/10
Bradley Debode- Metropolis University
Positives: The diagonal font was a good choice and the alternate logo looks really good.Negatives: This concept is pretty rough. Also, lose the cape on this as well.
Overall: 6/10
Daniel Lowry- Anaheim Ducks
Positives: The "OC" shoulder patch looks really good on this whole set. Also, combining the original Anaheim Ducks (the ones from the beginning of the edge template) with the stripping pattern of the current alternate. And using the updated Mighty Ducks logo looks beautiful.Negatives: Quack City? No. Just no.
Overall: 8.75/10
Dylan Tusinski- New York Islanders
Positives: I like the arm stripping on the jersey, as well as the wavy hem stripe as a nod to the old fisherman jersey. Also, I like the current alternate mark on the shoulder, as well as the alternate mark from that period. Also, I commend you on trying to use the Adidas stripes down the sideNegatives: No TV numbers.
Dylan Tusinski- NYI Brooklyn Americans Throwback
Positives: While this isn't the best template to use, the whole overall theme definitely works a lot better with the side stripes than your fisherman throwback. Overall I would say that this is a decent tribute to the Americans, even though they wore this particular design when they were known as the New York Americans.Negatives: Once again, a back view would be nice to see. Other than that, stop using this template. I feel that it's not the most effective template to use.
Overall: 6.75/10
Lucas Daitchman- New Jersey Devils
Positives: As a throwback of sorts, I like that you made the hem stripe match the sleeves. Also, I like what you did with the collar.
Ryan Christensen- Calgary Flames
Positives: It's nice to see the flames in a more traditional jersey set, rather than what they have as now. I'm a Fan of the minimalist approach to a hockey jersey and I think that if you hadn't put that red yoke on the white jersey then it would look too plain with just the arm stripes.Negatives: Don't know about using the alternate word mark as the new primary logo. the flaming C is bold enough by itself. Also, why not use the modern style yoke that they use on the alternate jersey. That's just a thought though. Also, add some more yellow to this. Maybe another yellow stripe below the white stripe. It just reminds me of the Sharks jerseys.
Overall: 8/10
Ryan Christensen- Tucson Falcons
Positives: Bringing back the claw logo on the sleeves was a great idea. it was an awesome design element that was taken away after they were dealt to the Blue Jackets and switched to Red, Blue, Silver, and White. Also, The Arizona patch from the Coyotes is a nice subtle way to make a reference to the parent club.Negatives: It would be nice if you had done the double stripe on the hem as well as the sleeves, but it's not that big of an issue. Also, put the Coyotes logo on one side of the yoke instead of having the Arizona logo on both sides.
Overall: 8.5/10
Zack Rueger- Minnesota Wild
Positives: I like what you did overall here. adding that triple stripe around the yoke looks really nice on both jersey, and adding a second red stripe and making the bottom of the jerseys and sleeves a different color look a lot better and more appealing than what they have now.Negatives: The white on the dark jersey should be that vintage white that they use. The Wild only use the regular white for the road jersey and it just doesn't match the color scheme of the set. Also, make that green jersey have the Wild word mark that's on their current green jersey and call it a day. And finally, make the white socks all white instead of half white and half green.
Overall: 8.5/10
