Saturday: Soo...Whatcha Doin?
The winner of the final COTW weekly vote for May was Brooks F.
There was a tie after the noon Eastern deadline had passed. However I am permitted to use my vote after the deadline to break any ties, so this one's for you Brooks. His Soo Greyhounds concept moves into the COTW-May vote which has now begun.
The COTW-May vote has indeed begun. There are 5 concepts in this monthly vote for you to choose from. You're looking for the red poll on the side of the page to cast your vote. Don't see it? That means you're not logged into a Google account. Fix that! You can see the concepts by clicking the link or just go to the COTY 2016 tab. Voting ends on Friday at noon Eastern time.
We have four COTW nominees for the week of June 3-9. They are listed in the black poll on the side of the page. Google account holders can place their vote until Friday at noon Eastern time. To see the concepts go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page or click the link in the poll.
All of the logos are in for the HJC Open Logo Competition. Before I go any further, let me say thanks to those that sent in logos. Making logos is a daunting task for many and I appreciate those that made the effort.
Now we will vote to determine the logo that will be used for the 2016 HJC Open. All of the entries can be seen on the 2016 HJC OPEN page. You can also vote there. Based on the number of entries received, we will be conducting a Top 4 vote. Most votes will be the winner.
Now is the time to begin preparing for the HJC Open. If you want to win the tournament you will need to be able to create FIVE excellent concepts over a month. Take a look at last year's brackets.
The tournament starts with anyone being able to send in a concept. The readers then vote and the top 16 move into the bracket portion of the tournament. Now you must defeat the opponent you are matched-up against. It's your concept versus theirs. The readers vote which one is better. This continues as the artists make their way through the brackets until we have a winner. One of the big questions I always think about is when to play your best concept. Do you use it in the opening round to try and make it into the brackets? Do you hope that you make it to the Final and use it then? Or perhaps you have a very tough opponent in the Quarter-Finals that you need to get past? That's the fun of the HJC Open! It will all begin on June 24.
The past two years, the winner of the HJC Open has been sent a Championship Banner. I'm not talking some little thing that you can put on your desk. Oh no! Just ask Dylan N. or Colin M., this banner is full size!
