Tuesday: Cup No. 4!

Hi everybody. Welcome back. If you're like me and exhausted from staying up and watching the Penguins win their fourth Stanley Cup, then I say to you that is was worth it! As nice as it is to see your favorite team win the cup, the Sharks fought hard to the end and for that I say that they should keep their heads held high.

Another story that rocked the hockey world was the passing of Gordie Howe, Mr. Hockey himself. I won't say too much, but I think that Howe was one of those players who comes along once in a lifetime. Heck, their may never be another one like him.

Anyways, the voting for the HJC Open's logo is going on right now as well as the COTW and COTW-May. Get on that stuff people!

Speaking of the Open, I hope everyone is getting their concepts ready because with all the talent that comes through this site it's going to be tough.

Ok onto the concepts!

Avi Stein- Dallas Stars

Positives: The traditional layout works much better than what the Stars currently use now, as well as adding double outlines to the numbers and making the name on the back of the white jersey black.
Negatives: While this collar works with the jersey, it doesn't work as well as the classic laced collar being currently used. Other than that and the positives, everything is pretty similar minus the hem of the green jersey and the shape of the yokes.
Overall: 8.5/10

Avi Stein- Detroit Red Wings

Positives: The italicized "D" logo looks beautiful on this jersey. Also, the big stripe- little stripe combo works really well on this jersey and the laced collar ties this all together to give it a more modern spin on the classic Red Wings jersey.
Negatives: The number font just doesn't work with this. They look elongated.
Overall: 9/10 COTW NOMINEE

Lucas Daitchman- Philadelphia Flyers

Positives: The more traditional approach to the Flyers was a good choice for this jersey. It's no secret that I'm not the biggest fan of the Flyers jersey set (no bias there, really) because it's always looked so busy so simplifying it gives their identity a much more refined look.
Negatives: That sleeve and hem stripe is just not working on this. Those thin stripes are really hard to see and it would be nice to see one less thin line so they can be thicker. Also, it would be nice if you had some type of outline on the numbers.
Overall: 7.75/10

Ryan Christensen- Dallas Stars 

Positives: Always a good presentation, the simple two stripes on both jerseys with a single outline on the numbers does a good here improving on what I believe is a pretty solid design to begin with. As for the alternate, It's nice to see that you didn't just copy the primary set.
Negatives: My only criticism of the primary set is that you have the modern style yoke on it instead of the traditional. As for the alternate jersey, doing something simple at the bottom would really tie the design together. Nothing over the top but my eyes are drawn just to the arms, which isn't a bad thing necessarily.
Overall: 8.75/10

Ryan Christensen- Minnesota Wild 

Positives: Always going that second mile, you did a really good job with all of the goalie equipment. As for the jersey set itself, the numbers next to the logo are surprisingly appealing instead of looking awkward so good job on that. Also, I appreciate you alternating out the green and white on the sleeves instead of keeping the design the same on both.
Negatives: Once again, I feel that your arm design isn't interesting enough that you can get away with nothing on the hem. However, the jersey still looks good without anything. Also, those red pants look hideous with the green and white jersey. Don't be afraid to keep the pants Gwen as well. 
Overall: 8.75/10

Josiah Bosch- San Jose Sharks 

Positives: To finish it off today, we have JB bringing us a throwback style jersey that just screams 1994. How do I know that? I was old enough to remember 1994 (man am I old). The gradient on the jersey and socks looks great and the fact that you have a mockup of the player and just the jersey behind it looks nice. Also, having the numbers on the shoulders is actually pleasing on this jersey.
Negatives: The biggest issue I have with this presentation is that you have two different yokes, so the mockup on the person is essentially false from the actual design (By the way, still waiting for somebody to tell me where to get that template. Hint hint!). Other than that I really don't have any issues with your jersey. It completely represents the 90's.
Overall: 8.5/10
