It's my daughter's 2nd Birthday party today so this week has been busy with preparations and this post has suffered because of it.
Here's the basic info and I'll update this later this evening with all the bells and whistles.
Taylor R won the COTW for September 16-22
The new COTW nominees for September 23-29 have been listed on the side of the page. Only Avi's concept was seconded this week, so by the rules I am allowed to choose from the other nominated concepts to join the vote. I chose Alan's concept because he's been involved with HJC for a long, long time.
The Ottawa Senators ReDesign is now in its voting phase. It's a Top 5 vote.
When I update this post I will let everyone know the results of our poll from last week regarding the best hockey video game. There will also be a new poll.
Thanks for stopping by and come back Sunday morning and I will complete this post's training. Together we can rule the internet as Admin and Blog.
Ok, here we go with the actual post.
Taylor R. won the COTW for September 16-22.
Well done Taylor. I like how classic this concept looks and at the same time can come across as very creative. Of course Taylor's execution is fantastic as always.
The new COTW nominees for September 23-29 have been listed on the side of the page. That's the black poll, for those of you logged into a Google account. Click the link in the poll or go to the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK tab to see the concepts. Votes will be counted up until noon Eastern on Friday.
As I originally stated above, Avi's Las Vegas concept was the only concept that was nominated and seconded during the week. There were other concepts that were just nominated. As per the COTW rules (which can be found at the bottom of the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page) I am permitted to choose one concept from the group of nominated concepts to join Avi's concept in the vote. I chose Alan's concept simply to say thanks for reading HJC for such a long time.
We had 21 entries come in for the Ottawa Senators ReDesign competition! This means that the vote to determine the winner is a Top 5 vote. Click the banner at the top of the page or go to the SENATORS page to see the entrants and place your votes. The winner moves into next week's COTW vote and this year comp winners have been very successful in those votes.
The next competition will officially start next week. However I thought I would give you guys the heads up that it will be a Carolina Hurricanes ReDesign, with very similar rules to the Senators competition. No basing your home or road concept on previous designs, but we will allow the hurricane flag striping pattern. This is also a heads up in case anyone wants to be brave enough to make a new logo for the team.
What was the best hockey video game of all-time? EA Sports' NHL series was selected by many voters, but one edition came out on top and that was NHL 94!
This year's version NHL 17 also did quite well in the voting. Is it really an awesome game or can we just attribute it to the fact that it's the new game out right now? I will personally always have a nostalgic love for two games in particular. Blades of Steel on the NES and Wayne Gretzky Hockey with League Simulator on my uncle's old computer. I played Blades of Steel for hours at a time and for many years. I also fondly remember spending countless Thanksgivings and family gatherings in my uncle's basement creating leagues and teams with League Simulator and Wayne Gretzky Hockey.
Here's a look at the full results of the poll.
The results of this week's poll may not change what HJC does, but I would like to get a feel for how these Saturday posts are received. Is everything that's written on the Saturday posts useful information? Would word get out just as effectively if I shared results via Twitter and Facebook? Or would you go looking for this information yourself regardless and prefer to see 7 days of posts with less concepts in each post? Answer below:

Don't send entries in until next week though.

I might be missing something, but what's a battle?
Ahahaha, splendid!
OK, maybe half the concepts of a regular post plus the Voting stuff instead of some other intro.
On the thanks for voting thing, I was born on 5/2/02, so I:
A: Definately have no clue what a battle is.
B: Am probably the youngest person who sends in concepts.
C: Don't care about the history of a jersey because only 5 teams have won the cup since I got into hockey (Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston, and LA)
GO JACKETS!!! GO MONSTERS!!! GO BUCKS!!! GO YOUTH!!!
Ha, I get it now...
@ Burkus Circus Concepts
Believe it or not, I'm younger than you.
