Tuesday's Post

Last night on the Facebook page, I asked what you guys would like to do for the next competition after the Pirates ReDesign voting ends. I gave two options, with the first being an Islanders relocation competition and the second being video game/system/character inspired hockey jersey competition. Of those two choice which one would YOU like to do next?

Despite what I have said in the past few days, the HJC jersey is still on sale. I haven't been given the green light to place the order yet, but that should be tonight or tomorrow. If you want to get your HJC jersey order in, go to the HJC JERSEY page.

Committee Members:
COTW Apr 23-29 vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
Pirates ReDesign Top 5 vote (ends Sunday @ 11:59pm EST)

-------------------------------------------------------

Skokie Flyers concepts (by Jim C.)
Jim tells me that this was the team he played for when he was playing hockey. You can see their website here. From that site it looks as if they wear pre-Edge Philly jerseys. Jim has used the B-Sens jerseys to update and Edge-ify the team. If I got a new jersey for minor hockey that looked like this I would be pretty pleased! 7/10

Columbus Blue Jackets concepts (by Mazzz)
The blue version was posted a few days ago, Mazzz has also sent in a matching white one. My opinion still stands, I don't like the lack of red. I think the white jersey would have looked really good with some red trim. 6/10

Anaheim Ducks concept (by Tyler G.)
To me, the striping on the socks, arms, and yokes all look different. If it was streamlined with one pattern this could really be quite good. I like the straight pattern on the socks best, but the arm stripes aren't too bad either. In fact, even the pattern used on the yokes would do. This is a lot of good pieces that just don't seem to work with each other. 6/10

Manchester Monarchs concept (by Brady)
I like the idea of this with a couple of modifications. I would get rid of the gold yokes, but I would keep the stripes underneath them. I also would not have the gold continue to the bottom of the jersey on the back hem. I'd just have a straight stripe. I really like the execution including proper crediting of the logo. 7/10

Florida Panthers concepts (by Kyle C.)
I think the white jersey looks really good. If the yellow and white was switched on the arms, then I would like the red jersey just as much. I also like how Kyle seems to have based these off of the current alternates, but has made them "classic" Panthers. 8/10

Vancouver Canucks concept (by Colin)
This is very nicely done, great execution. And this jersey looks better in green and blue rather than the 90's version, in my opinion. This may be nitpicking, but a small change I would make would be to have the collar just solid blue. Colin has provided his own brief description on the concept. 8/10

Vancouver Canucks concept (by MasonII)
This is Mason's "meshing of the eras" concept. I think I get everything except for the curved arm stripes. They look good, but I just don't know what era they are from. Stellar execution, actually everyone's execution is really good these days. 8/10

Chicago Blackhawks concept (by Tyler G.)
A few people have posted something like this before, suggesting that it become the Hawks' new 3rd jersey and I am one of those people. I like everything Tyler has done with this except for the red cuffs. On an execution note, the red used on the jersey is not the same red that is on the logo. 7/10

Alaska Aces concepts (by Thomas L.)
I really like almost everything here. I'm not a fan of the coloured namebar though, it seems unnecessary. I like the thinner striping on the arms and I love the black and green alternate. It keeps the look of the team while doing "something different". 9/10

Färjestad BK Elitserien concepts (by Jesper)
This is Jesper's favourite team. He's done a really nice job getting them away from a Reebok cookie-cutter sweater and into something classic. Check out the current jerseys (Green & White). These concepts are way better. I love how accurate Jesper is with the ads too! Great job through and through here! 9/10

Philadelphia Flyers concept (by Justin)
This is really great. I'll let Justin's descriptions speak for the concept, but my favourite detail is the "EST 1967" in the collar. COTW nomination from me! 9/10

I played against Skokie a couple years ago. They didn't look as good as these jerseys do but I do recall my teammate teabagging one of the flyers. Haha

COTW nom from me for a great memory brought back!

The video game related competition would be awesome! I bet there would be a lot of creative designs.

I'd agree on Justin's for COTW. I also think it would be cool to do a video game one too, although I wouldn't mind an Islanders redesign.
