Friday: In Between The Blue Jackets

For the 3rd week in a row, Justin C has won the COTW! This is also Justin's 4th win in the last 6 weeks. We are all going to need to step up our games if we're going to stop Justin's run. You can see the winning entry on the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page. Congrats Justin, the voting results are as follows.
Justin C. - 4
Brandon C. - 2
Tyler G. - 1

Next week may be a little spotty regarding posts. I will be waiting until Sunday evening to decide who the new HJC writers will be. They may not be available next week. Slowly though the blog should come back to normal, but on Monday you will definitely notice a change. By the time training camps are supposed to start the blog should be running like it never missed a beat. Also, don't forget about the last two Phase 2 guest posters this weekend.

Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Brian R.)
This Jackets concept on the Swift template looks pretty decent right now. With some changes regarding the execution is would be quite good. The loose pixels around the logo seem a bit un-clean and the TV numbers don't match the player numbers. 7/10

Winnipeg Jets concept (by Hunter)
I feel like this jersey needs to choose whether to be light blue or dark blue. I do like the white sleeves. Be sure to keep your stripes inside the template. The NOB should be in all uppercase letters. Check out the TUTORIALS link on the side of the page for some good tips. 6/10

Nashville Predators concept (by Ian)
I like the stripe choices for the Preds' alt jersey. It's fairly well executed too. Now that Atlanta isn't around to use that collar it's up for grabs and Nashville seems like the perfect team to take it. 8/10

Edmonton Oilers concept (by Brandon C.)
This is a very very cool orange alternate for Edmonton. It's not entirely the same as the home and road, but definitely has ties to the set. The oil drop logo is solid and the execution looks great. The only issue may be the TV numbers which look more bold than the player numbers. 8/10

Peoria Rivermen concept (by Fabio)
You can definitely see that Fabio has quite a bit of talent. Personally, I would like to see only one blue used on the jersey and then the two blues used together on the logos. Fabio's version of the wordmark looks great, but using it on a jersey with coloured side panels is not my favourite. Great execution, but just not my cup of tea. 7/10

Carey Price mask concept (by Anthony)
I like the idea of the mask, but I don't know if Habs fans would with both flags being on there. Changing the logo as Anthony has done here doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I think creating a Carey Price logo for that location would have been cool. The Habs logo in a circle is shown on the flat version, but not on the 3D model. 7/10

Toronto Maple Leafs concept (by Tyler G.)
When the Winter Classic jersey rumours came out a couple of weeks ago regarding the Leafs and what they will wear, Tyler sent this in. Almost everything I'm on board with. As a Leafs fan I would like to see white numbers and then perhaps outline them in black. Also, I'd like to see the primary crest a bit bigger, as it is on the Roger Edwards heritage sweaters. 8/10

Boston Bruins concept (by Scott M.)
The jersey looks great. Concept artists are beginning to place a lot of pressure on the Bruins to wear some quality throwbacks for their 90th anniversary in two seasons. For the anniversary logo that Scott has created, I like the layout, but I feel that the amount of brown should be decreased in favour of more black. Namely on the 90. This still looks great though. COTW nom from me because of the logo! 8/10

Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Justin C.)
These colours look great together! This is a very nice and classy looking 3rd for the Jackets. I like what Justin has done with the shoulder patch and the stars along the cuffs are tremendous. As a fan of the current alternate numbers, it's a shame Justin went with something more traditional, but it doesn't look bad. 8/10

Scott M for COTW. I like Justin's but I have an issue with cuff details (for any concept) because, to me, they would be hidden by the players gloves. I understand that as a fan jersey or collection piece, the cuffs would be visible but most of the concepts that are created are intended to be team/player concepts. I think creative collar details or even hem details work better. Again, this is not directed solely at Justin - as we all know, he creates some excellent concepts

Wow! I really appreciate all of the votes over the past 3 weeks or so! Thanks guys!

I really like Scott's Bruins jersey. The logo and jersey are both great. My only problem is I can not stand black and brown together. It's just a pet peeve of mine. And if the logo were just to appear on this jersey (not the home and away) I would eliminate black all together. Other than that small detail, it's great!
